Movement In Valver Gearstick!

  Revels Mum & Sister

Has been like this since I bought the car.

Basically when I am driving. If i put my foot down. The gear stick pulls back a bit. I can plant it hard in all gears and it doesnt pop out, is easy to get in every gear even from cold. And is smooth. And has had a new clutch

Is this something to do with a mount thought I read that somewhere!

Any help guys. Starting to annoy me a bit doesnt effect driving but is annoying!

Its the gearbox mount (think some people refer to it as the dog bone mount).

Got the same problem with mine.

Hopefully getting a strengthened one from Hill Power soon.

I dont think so, well not for the mechanically minded.

No idea how much a Hill Power one is, not phoned up yet?

Errr liquid.....how much does it move ??...about an inch.....maybe half an inch ?

coz by the sound of what your describing mate its sounds as though theres nothing wrong............just movment in the rods/linkages when drive is taken up !!....nearly every car does it ...........i might be wrong......but thats what it sounds like your describing !!

ESP if theres no other problems with your g/box !!

  Was a Clio 1.8 16v

Yeah mine does it but stays in gear fine. I thought all mounts were revised and made flexible for reliability in the phase 2s due to the phase 1s mounts being frequently replaced?

No I have been in Ben Rs valver and also in a mates valver and it doesnt move as much as mine!

I ordered the new mount from Andyspares. Only about £17 with vat and delivery. So even if it isnt that. Not a lot of money!

Will let you guys know hoe it goes. I know that valver has some movement mate. But this is more than normal!

so long as it does not jump out of gear, i wouldnt loose any sleep over it, as mine does the same, its just top quality French poo!

Well ordered so we will see what happens.

I am not losing any sleep./ Been like it for a few months. Just thought I would see if I could sort it!

I thought it was the linkage that needs changing to stop this movement, but nothing worth worring about! Mine also does it, and i have all new mounts and gearbox!
