MPG

Hi All

I know this subject has been raised before and I have looked to see what should generally be correct.

Anyway, when driving my car around town I normally get about 25>28 mpg (roughly) never hits 30 and that is driving pretty gently with a few power bursts here and there.

I took the car on a trip to yorkshire last weekend, did the 65 test and i roughly got 41mpg, when i went down to 60 was more like 48. I did reset the computer and kept at the speed for around 10 mins. I did it a couple of times and sometimes longer and it did roughly stay the same.

Is this what i should be getting? It sounds O.K for motorways but the town MPG seems a little down to me?

I dont want to go wasting money on sensors etc if it really is fine.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I know this subject has been up a few times but I just wanted some closure really.

Do you do short runs?

The motorway test seems fine, i got 50mpg when i did it two days ago after a service, and average 32mpg when i do ~20-30 miles a day!

All depends how long you are in town, it will be low if you're just sat in traffic for a long time!

When off the motorway I only drive about 15 mins to work and from work and it is quite start stop, not just traffic but round abouts, lights etc....its all local city roads

So this all sounds about right then yeah?

The trip i did was about 200 miles up there and i used just over half a tank....
