MSN messenger always saying someone is offline even when you can talk to them???

One of my friends has just installed messenger but it keeps saying shes offline on everyone elses screen. I can chat with her but it doesn't put her in the online list. Dunno if shes got a firewall or not. Anyone know what could be causing this??

Windows Live Messanger does that now, you can be offline but still talk.

Yeah but they're signed in ok. It should say she's online in my contacts list

I've seen this happen a few times. No known fix AFAIK.

I sometimes chat to people who are offline and on their MSN it says they are online.

as someone else said, u can set yourself to appear offline but still talk on windows live messenger

I've had to uninstall live msn and run 7.5 just so that people can see me!

Yep - love this feature

When your in a shite mood you just sit as 'appear offline' then if there is someone you feel like moaning at, you can message them - but your still offline

I used to use trillian to do this

i often sign in in offline mode until someone worth chattin to comes on...ifi sign in as online normally get somebody annoying me within a few mins
