Hi,
I bought my 1st 182 at the end of February after selling my x-type and being stuck with a 1.2 clio.
I've had a couple of clio's a 1.5 dci 90 and most recently the 1.2. Missing the power of the jag, i decided to buy a 182.
Made a trip down to lymington from Leicester to have a look at a couple. The garage had a few and seemed to be selling lots on autotrader.
Saw the Arctic and impulsively bought it.
Here's how it looked when i got it home...
Excuse the crappy pictures, it was covered in dust and had been raining when i viewed it.
Was informed by the garage that it had both cup packs, it came with fsh and both belts done last year within the last 2k.
So swapped the stereo later that day
There was a noise coming from the exhaust which i had been informed by the garage was a slightly bent heatshield, turns out the previous owner had thought it a good idea to weld the exhaust to the supports without hangers so inevitably it snapped
Had that corrected.....
Then the headlights were looking sorry for themselves so gave them a bit of tlc
Driving home from work one day the brakes decided they'd had enough so i got in touch with George as everyone was recommending him and his service was second to none
It got treated to hc front disks Renault rears n brembo pads all the way round the calipers were given a fresh lick of hammerite yellow while i was at it
Wouldn't normally go with yellow but they seem to be growing on me behind the black wheels
At this point i realised that the front grill wasn't sat right and the drivers side washer jet wasnt working, the windscreen washer jets were pretty poor too...
Quick trip to ECP left my wallet a little lighter but working windscreen washers
Took the bumper off to sort the grill...
While it was off i stripped it completely to find the washer piper was trapped between the grill, sorted that treated the plastics and gave the bumper a once over woth the rotary
By far one of the most stone chipped bumpers I've had but from afar it doesn't look too bad
After putting it on i decided to give the car a quick wash and seal with some zymol wax i had to hand
I fitted a c2 aerial as the old one was battered and falling to bits, inspired by Daniel's Arctic thread.
Got some cheapo mats from ebay with blue edging
Carbon wrapped the dash strips as they let the inside down
That's about all I've done so far but will be looking to do the following:
Full interior / exterior detail and paint correction
Black bullets with yellow highlights for the lettering keeping the black and yellow theme going?
Paint the plenhum black with yellow lettering
Getting a major service
Refurbing the alloys as the dealer said they had been "refurbed" which meant rattle can over the existing scratches etc very poorly
Maybe a Snappy wheel re-trim
Other than that i want to just enjoy the car without spending too much money
I think i over paid for what it is, never viewing a car in the wet again or trusting a dealer.
Bought a warranty but haven't received the docs and neither have a got the v5
Contacted dealer but they washed their hands of the matter.
Turns out its not got the cup suspension as described either but still handles well, compared to the barge that was the x type
I've learnt a fair few tips about the RS while on here so wanted to say thanks and thanks for reading
Any tips or suggestions are welcome! It'd be cool to meet a few members from Leicester to check out their cars etc
