Multiregion DVDs?

  Mito Sportiva 135
Was just about to order a DVD I really wanted (Samurai Jack season 4, absolutely amazing if you haven't seen it!!) and noticed it was "Region 1, NTSC" and requires a multiregion or NTSC DVD player to use it. Will this work on my laptop or PS2 does anyone know? If not I'm gutted as can't seem to find the European release.

Other suggestions welcome!

Cheers guys

no it won't, laptop dvd roms are region encoded.

You normally get to change the region up to 5 times so you could watch it, but then would have to change it back to region 2 to watch uk dvd's. You can then only change up to 5 times.

You could maybe do something illegal to the dvd to allow it to play but thats the only 2 ways really.

Just make a backup and change the region code.

Either DVDshrink or DVDdecypter should do the trick.

see now i was trying not to say it like that as messing with the copy protection of a dvd is illegal.

Cool thanks for the suggestions guys. I used to have DVD Shrink actually, but IIRC files are split into 1GB maximum, so a 3GB movie for example is 3 separate files. I just want to watch some great fighting on a huge TV...is that so much to ask?!? ;)

f**k copy protection.. he paid for the DVD.. should he not be able to watch it ??

Rip the fucker to the hard drive, remove the shitty region code, burn to a new disk and if you ever scratch/wreck the disk you have the original in pristine condition to rip the fucker again :)

I had a simmilar situation when I bought A dogs breakfast from amazon.com which only had it in region 1.

One problem with that - I don't have a DVD burner on my laptop :dapprove:

So so annoying...there are other region 1 DVDs I want too, like Ren and Stimpy...why don't we have European versions yet?!

Rip it to the Hard drive and watch it from that then.. or as said use anydvd or dvd genie to fake a region 1 player.

Cool will do guys. Is that software easy to use? DVDShrink was easy to use but not that great IMO, are these better?
