Mustang appreciation thread.

I thought I'd share my love for American v8's, crank up the speakers for these beasts. These are just the gen 5 and up to the latest models although I do like the classics I havent put any of their vids up, add your own.

Loud auto setting off virtually every alarm on the block.

enjoi!!

Sounds great eh! The whine from the sc is immense. You can pick a v8 'stang up in the states for feck all.
When I was over there I nipped in to a few garages and I was like a diabetic kid in a candy store, wanted everything but couldn't buy anything as it's the duty that's a killer once you've got the thing over here.

has to be pree 1970 or post 2004 for me, rest are crap IMO.

My brother lives in America. He has a Fox body Mustang, ok it looks like parp (although some look sexual) but its blown and tuned and is an absolute animal, on stock suspension so when you floor it the back goes down like a ten tonne weight just fell on it.

Was great fun driving it, earlier this year.

There all great imo but I agree buying anything in between those dates would be a bit of a compromise especially the mustang II, that was a bit of a dog but the King Cobra model wasn't so bad if you like over the top 70's design.

Yhea my uncle has a lime green and black cuda aar replica with a 440ci hemi + all the bits, no charger but it still does 100 in about 6 seconds, he built the beast himself.
I had a whirl in that when I was over in the states, the acceleration was so brutal that I had a sore neck for a couple of days afterwards. It did something like 6mpg when you booted it but when driving normally it cost the same to run as my car over here with the cheaper petrol costs over there.

gotsta love the mustangs. Elanor or the '67 shelby gt500 is by far my fav. They don't seem to have any traction whatsoever in 1st or 2nd due to stupid amounts of power being thrown at the rear wheels.

The AAR Cuda used either a 440 six pack ( edelbrock inlet manifold with 3 sets of twin holley carbs, the car ran like any other 440 but when you open the throttle up all 6 barrells open up ) ......or a 426 Hemi. A 440 HEMI was never used in the cuda. The car also used the bomb proof 727 torqueflite racing box

100mph in 6 seconds is a bit generous even for a race tuned street legal 426 Hemi

i've never been a fan of any yank tanks tbh

if i had to though... GT500 Eleanor, Plymouth 'Cuda or a Plymouth Superbird in lime green lol

The mustang in gone in 60 seconds isnt a real GT500 - Its a kit....the real GT500 looks nothing like the one in the film.

The original "Eleanor" was a yellow 1973 Boss 351 Mustang

Well the Dodge Charger i went to look at fell through because it was a botched up heap of s**t built by a nesbit......so i might be buying this if the guy will agree with the money ive offered him.

Its a 69 "Roadrunner" with a 440 six pack stroker pushing out 500 bhp and 550 lbft. Its been restored to Factory spec using a few mod cons. Its better than new - its immaculate !!!

Gotta love the noise...Great thread!

I now wanna grow an Afro and some sideburns, Jim Kelly stylee:cool:

Can't listen to any of those at work :( but I was following one of the new ones the other day and it sounded the absolute dogs.

Number plate was MU51ANG as well.

Old ones are straight line cars the new ones are rather capable in the bends. Its not far of rivaling the M3 in cornering ability and spend a few hundred and it surpasses them. Im not buying one just cause its fast in a straight line. Im buying one cause there now actually good cars. And the 09 MY one may be getting some rather tasty upgrades. More power and an independent rear suspension are some of the bits people are expecting as well as the new boss and bullit mustangs.

Spoiler was that big to allow the boot to open. Not just for downforce reasons. It did keep the car straight though apparently at speed it was near impossible to get it sideways due to the side parts they acted like rudders and kept it straight.

Hey I'm just saying what he built mate, feel free to dissagree but it was a hemi and like I said it was a replica aar (it had the black bonnet, strobe stripes and bodycoloured bumpers etc but a shaker hood instead) it was built to be very quick to 100 and geared specifically for 1/4 mile drag street racing, it would not go much faster than 130mph because of this so it was very quick to 100.

Standard cuda aar was 0-60 in 5.8 seconds and 100 in 14.4 seconds so he's halved it's 0-100 time, it's news to me they used anything other than the 340ci in the aar tbh.
I got my info from car and driver july issue 1970, I don't know where your info is from dude.

I hope this deal works out ok for you, that is stunning. Great colour too! If you have a nice big garage to keep it tuckered up during the crap weather then it's an investment that hopefully won't loose you any money.

If he accepts your offer are you going to be using it or keeping it for shows? Get ready for 11mpg!

I wish I was in a position to buy a yank, but I don't have the space even if I had the cash. I quite fancy a boat tail riviera, there is a fantastic one I've seen around shrewsbury. Any stang would be nice though, even a straight six tbh.

+1

Those sorta, mid nineties ones been the utter worst, hideously pathetic pieces of shite known to man. Worse than a Mk4 Golf GTi 2.0.
