MX-5 on Pistonheads.

As for power, you put MX5 in px so you should know what the power is like already! :rasp:

I wouldn't bother with that car personally for these reasons...

Rear bumper has slight bit of lacquer crack.
Front bumper in the sunlight looks slightly faded.
Small crease on N/S/R arch. Has not broken the paint.
Carpet cut a little untidy when Cusco bar was installed.
Roof has a couple of small splits on drivers side edge but it hasn't leaked on me.

I know the UK MK5's keep their value but its 7 years older then yours and sounds like it's getting tired!

I fancy a switch to rwd, and the MX-5 looks like a good way to go. I was hoping more for a 1.8 mk1 Eunos so that it would have an LSD (hopefully...).

I have found the guy on MX5nutz, and the car is a 115bhp 1.6 with an open diff. I think I'll give this one a miss.

MX5's arent about straight line grunt. If thats what you think you're missing the point. Or if thats what you're after, wrong car..

Its all about the cheap, roof off RWD fun!

I sold a MX5 (well a Eunos Roadster) in much better nick than that for under a grand. Prices should be dropping even more now it's winter. I'd stick with the 172 or get a newer MX5 if you really want one.

Was looking at mk2 5's at around £3k.

What sort of price do you think a dealer would offer me for my Clio?

Nowhere near the price you are asking on PH. Got a feeling they would offer under 2k for it (plus the belts will need doing again next year).

mx5 is way overpriced. the mrs has the later shape one, and is not very fast compared to a 2.0, she has the 1.6 one, but when i comes to bends, she doesnt bother slowing down. She doesnt need to, handling is what there about not flat out pace.

I think I'm gonna put the 5 idea on hold for a while. Get the belts done on my car, and pick up a cheap Eunos over the winter as a project. I think the 5 is an itch I just need to scratch :)

Sounds like a plan.. I bought my Eunos for £150 as it wouldn't start, I changed the CAS(cam angle sensor) which is a common fault and it came to life. Cleaned it up a bit and punted it on and made £800:approve:

That thing is not worth £2k. He offered me it. I ignored him... Its a £1k car with a £500 set of wheels.

I used to own a 51 plate MX-5, it had dweamy handling, crap in a straight line, and the roof leaked, but really puts a smile on your face going through twisties!
