My 1.216valve

  1.2 16valve sport
Im new here, im called olly :)

Ive got a 1.2 16valve sport, with clear rear lights and sebring backbox? which came with it?

Been looking on ktec and reading on here for a while, am i right in thinking 17" will make the car slower? Id really like some 17" but if they are going to slow down the car and make it handle badly i think i will go with these 16" http://www.k-tecracing.com/show_product.asp?id=2208

But how much will i be able to lower it with just springs, its a 56 plate, i know therre are similar topics but direct information would be wonderful :)

17" may rub..Iv seen some drastic measures taken because of this..like removing
arch liners.
Iv got 16" lowered on Pi suspention kit and they rub slightly on full lock.
17" will mess more with the speedo too.

welcome

i agree with the 16's, but those in the above link dont look good imo!

have you got any pics of your car?

Yeah sounds good to me.. but it is about personal preference.
40mm drop is the max I would take it without up-rated shocks.
heres a pic of mine on 16" lowered on 35mm springs..
I have 60mm kit now and its not much lower tbh.

looks nice, thanks for the welcome, no i dont actually have a clio yet lol, but i might be putting a deposit on one soomn depending on you guys think, for a 56 plate with 15000 miles in good condition so bumps marks anything, clear rear lights, sebring backbox how much would you pay?

Buy it private as the stealership will rip you off silly.
My car is a 53 plate mk2 ph2 extreme 2 and they want £4850 for the exact same car
..but i brought mine in june 2006 for £3500.

i have to get it from a dealership as my grandad is buying me it and said it has to come from a dealership with warranty. For the 56 plates from what ive seen there around 6000 at dealerships, what youy think?

Sounds like a good deal for the age..plus someone has done all the running in for you..
Does your grandad want to adopt me;)

  1.2 16valve sport
lol hes teaming up with my mum to get it but my mum isent botherd were i buy it. I have to pay all my saving towards it aswell (1500) but you think 6000 is reasonable?

sounds reasonable mate, your lucky your getting financial help from your family

i was the same though

but would your grandad mind if you started to modify the new car he bought you?

  1.2 16valve sport
lol ye but my brother did the same and he wasent really botherd but obiously he will prefer if i keep it standard

What do you guys think these will look like on a black clio lowerd by 30-40mm?

Also do you think i should go 17" or 16"?

What will handle better a car lowerd by 30 with coil over and shocks not just the springs with 17"s. Or a car lowerd by 40 just on springs with 16" rims.

Thanks

A car on a good supension kit will be bettert than anything else.

Fk coilovers are about the minimum to look at though.

in theory mate you could possibly dop it down 60mm as long as you have lower profile enough tires depends on the tires....ive got mine 60mm on 15's and the tires are not lower profile so to speak

not just on springs btw, maybe why i got no replies because people thought i was idiot for lowering 60mm just on springs?

Whats reccomened to lower on springs, because i have read 30 to 40, but i mean say 30 on the front 40 on the back?

Because i could get dampers + springs for front and then springs for back.

To be honest im new to this anyone got any links for a 60mm lowering kit?

If the topic been aswered before then surly a search would give you more peoples opinions rarther than the few regulars?

With the right offset there no trouble with lowering way more than that.

Any size wheel can mess with the speedo its the tyres which is the driver for it 14's can put the speedo out higher than 18's.

issit any good i think i read apex arent very good?

What about the apex shocks with the ktr 60mm lowering springs?
Personaly I woulnd't bother with any of it you have to spend a lot to make it worthwhile IMO. FK coilovers are the cheapest I'd look for at £420 or so new.

Apex IMO are to hard a setup. but there better than a lot of other stuff.

You have to remember though what companies claim for lowered isn't the same plus springs alone sag often (Apex and PI are prime examples) plus changing for coilovers means you can lower more than a set of springs would and you have less cathcing etc and a much better ride.

I think you got me wrong... I didnt say you coulnt lower it anymore than that.
Just That 16" are better as they cause less problems.
