My 200 test drive opinions....

M

mini-valver

Yeah I know. That's why I love them. It is possible to have both positive and negative opinions of a car. We don't all have to wet ourselves just because it's a Clio ;)

Ke?

I was commenting on how you said it doesn't feel quick, and I agree.

I think i'm going to book a test drive in one for the weekend. Just out of interest to see what its like compared to the 172. Arnold Clarke in St Helens have one in LY.

will be interesting to hear what you think of of it

I was going to book one online but it doesn't seem to be working. It works for the Twingo though :S

I'll pop down over the weekend.

I'm sure i'll prefare it to the 172. Although it might not be raw enough, you feel too disconnected in cars that are refined and well built imo.

We are still talking about Clios here aren't we ;)

As plenty have already stated these cars come alive above 6.5k - but they don't feel like a rally car on steroids ALL the time.

This makes it the perfect car for me.

As for topping up on extras that really add fcuk all to the experience (and re-sale price) so the second owner has a "better" car - sod that - mugs game ;).

I seem to get 30mpg if I drive it like it's stolen or if I drive like my Grandad - maybe the trip computer's fcuked - who cares :D

Away from the Clio "scene" - everyone who sees my car likes it - Even the front  - The only people who seem to dislike the new nose are you lot :rasp:

testify. Im woth you 1110%

The only thing I would change on it is 6th Gear - so it's just for motorway cruising - Lost count the number of times I've gone to change up from 6th to 7th

sure but i found them a pain in the arse to get in and out of for an everyday car, the standard hug you loads aswell but its personal init :)

Awaits you selling in 2 yrs, then you will of realised why recaros are a must.
The recaro seats in 200 are the same as in 197 fact.
Also same as in RS250 meggy, VXR, Rs4 etc etc.

yeah comes with spliter.

the front end is my only so so point with the 200 but f**k it i get it on the 10th october so will get used to it

When did you order yours mate if they have given you the 10th Oct? Ive got an Albi blue on the way too.

I like the Recaros, but I had to have leather in my 197. If at the time they'd of done the recaros in leather I'd of had them, but for me the the standard do support me enough.

Surprising review, i test drove a 200 before getting the vee, the engine and throttle response imo were much improved over the 197, the gearbox was good, only downside is i felt it needed the recaro's. As for been slow, i had to push the vee close to the limiter to catch up with a lad over on RS forum in his AG200 with k-tec exhaust (200 owners buy this and you won't be disappointed- could hear it over the vee below 5000RPM)

It sounds awesome- the vee is a hard beast to drive quickly into bends- but i have only had it a week and a bit- never driven a mid engine RWD car before.

ive owned a jdm 98 spec integra and ek9 rx civic and the teg maybe a little quicker in a straight line and the civic does feel better put together and both have a lsd but both has not got the grip or weighted steering and brakes like my 200 so i think anybody who slates the 200 have not driven it properly its one of the best hatches ive driven to this day

The feeling and feedback of the 200 is epic. Excellent out of the box car for the track. Still gutted i never had a lap in one at knockhill.

Got a load of bad history with this garage being messed around a few years ago so im alwasy cautious.

Booked the test drive with a salesman who knows me last week, he wasnt there when i got there, so another guy was sorting me out. Asked for licence, then came back asking for counterpart (never had this with any other test drive) which I didnt have. Sales manager comes out saying he can;t let me drive it etc being a patronising c**t. Was trying to argue his point and I just said I've had a lot of trouble from this garage in the past, but thought i'd try again, been waiting months for a test drive, finally got it sorted and you wont let me drive it! He asked if I could get the paper or come back another day, and I said I either drive that car today or I go to Nottingham and deal with them.

Salesman I know came back, smoothed it over a bit, then he came out saying no im not going until he has covered himself with his manager, made me wait another 5 minutes whilst he was on the phone, then comes out nice as pie saying it's fine!

Saw Gray in his ph1 when we put some fuel in it too, salesman had a good laugh at the wheels making a joke to me until I said he was a mate of mine lol.

I cannot understand why dealers don't let as many people test drive cars as they can.....

Even if your not interested in buying something for a while, so many peeps are on furums these days that good words spread! (bad words even more so!)

Im sorting a 'performanceday' with my nissan colleague to fix up exising and new customers with test drives in R26/200/197/Nissan 370Z.

I know we might get 1 sale out of 20testdrives, but i'm imagining how the conversations in the pubs that night will go for all who attended!

With regards to the 200, they are noticably different to a 197. Seriously rapid when the mood takes you:approve: (and nicely geared now if your pottering)

Sounds good, all dealers should be like that. Would you buy a pair of shoes before trying them? No, so why buy a car before trying it. I d just walk out, done it before and I d do it again.

If you advise us 200 owners to get a ktec then any chance of getting a close shot of the exhausts please mate? If i was to get one, dont really want it sticking through the cut outs in the insert. How much do they cost? Cheers, Lew

Don't think i have a photo of the exhaust, the pipes come to about where the original renault one sits in the surrond. Don't know about cost as this was a k-tec test run for the 200 so was free!

I found the 200 a bit soft for me. Clutch is soft, steering quite light and only thing that was hard were the recaros. Was quick round the track though.

Do you have to take the chrome inserts out or are the exhausts still sat behind them? If the ktec replaces them or sits inside the chrome inserts then i would of thought it will bounce around
