My 2000 Clio 172 PH1 Project

Hi guys.

After many many hours of staring at Phase 1s on here, and many more spent dreaming about owning one. I can happily say I'm officially part of the club.

The Car:
45k miles (somehow)
Aluminium Bonnet.
Spare OZ alloy in the boot.
The bodywork is almost spotless with just a few little dents around the drivers side.
The interior is in very nice condition for its age.
Underbody shows barely any signs of rust.
Has been looked after nicely, with history all the way from 2003 (as a lovely bonus it came with the Feb 2000 edition of the EVO magazine which featured this model)

The Project:

My goal with the car is to get it back to looking like it just rolled out the dealers lot (which it isn't far off).
Ill be updating this post as me and my dad work on it, as for this first post id like it to show the condition of the car when I first bought it.

Outdated Cambelt and Aux belt done before I even thought about driving it.

Spent a while just driving and enjoying the new car, during this time I had a rock flung at my windscreen from the car Infront while driving so a new windscreen was needed, A massive dent was put in the side of the passenger door while parked up at Tesco, the midpipe decided it had enough of being together and cracked in half (that was a funny drive home every time I had to accelerate) and finally the alternator decided to die just before I was due to drive it to Belgium for the 6Hs of Spa.

Was able to save the windscreen sticker before it was replaced, along with getting some stickers for show plates using some original brochures. After all that was sorted it was time to move onto the fun bits:

All the old faded black plastic trims were taken off and painted back to life.

Full Polish and Ceramic coating, rear lights were also re-lacquered.

That mostly brings us up today which was spent trying the fix the bumper gap on the drivers side along with the discovery of a previously sunflower yellow grille??

Tying all that work together this is how the car is looking now, almost having ticked over to 50k miles. I have a few more things to tick off the list, however I thought this was a good place to update the post.

Wow! That looks clean! And 45k! I thought mine was low at 87, that's insane! Must be one of the lowest ph1s, especially from the early examples.

Will be keeping an eye on this!
