Hi, I’ve still got problems with my brakes, that I thought I had fixed but now I got some new noises.
I used to get a howling noise and tinging noise from the wheels, usually it was from the right wheel but sometimes the left would do it as well originally thought it was the bearings or a wapred disk but wasnt too sure. Anyway I took both calipers off, and cleaned up everything including the disks, pads and calipers. I copper greased the pads, and fitted it all back together again. One thing that was strange was that when I pumped the brake to make the caliper clamp on to the pads, it took loads of pumping to get it tight enough so that the caliper wouldn’t move and the disk could go round quite easily. But a few times I was pumping the brakes and the caliper went so tight that the disk wouldn’t move round at all and I have to undo the caliper bolts and start again. WTF I didn’t think it could do that, could there be something wrong with the brake fluid or something maybe I need to bleed the brakes, what do you think?????
Anyway once I got them on nicely and the disks moved round smoothly I put the wheels on and took it for a half-hour drive to bed it in and all was good until 2day. Now I’ve got a noise coming from both wheels, sounds like a lil tweety bird is under the arches, and it stops when I brake, man my car really needs a service but isn’t due till 36k and I’m at 27k
What you lot reckon, what’s that noise and how come my disks would go solid if I pumped too much?
Any feed back will be very much appreciated,
Thx, Allan
