my brakes...

My brakes have decided to not work as well as they used to. my dad cant figue out why. he has replaced the rear brake pads and disks and stuff, so he thourght it could be the cambelt, but thats ok. :S

Any ideas?

Pads, discs, fluids, fluid lines. Take your pick, could also be something to with your break pedal.

The cambelts to do with your engine :S

duno if i hav spelt it right or not but either way no he doesnt think so because went for a drive and tried brakes, then turned engine off and did the same and he said that it is working. whether its just tempermental i dont no. wat do you think?

Yeah cambelt is completly seperate, also check front pads and discs and due to teh age of teh car do a fluid change as well

all pads and disks are recently new i think, sure he replaced the front ones aswell, not sure, back definately new though

as said there alot of components for the braking system , could be anything tbh .

get the fluid changed and bled then. made a massive difference on my old car and it wasnt that old when it was done

thats what i would have said if it makes no difference to the power of your breaks with the engine off

defo try bleeding 1st , then replace the fluid and take it from there .

The brakes are fine with the engine off for other reason.

Bleed the brakes then tell us what exactly the problem is does the pedal go sofr or hard or just go right to the floor with no resistance etc.
