I know the feeling matey ... someone nudged my old motor and was uninsured.. and had no tax/test too!
I didnt work with him tho.. he was my next door neighbour!

and I say "was" .. he got busted not so long afterwards for growing and dealing dope .... Poetic justice eh ??? lmaol

Still, if it weren't for un-insured drivers.. I think most of everyone elses insurance policys would drop in price ;)

Grrrr makes me so angry, uninsured drivers are scum. Makes you wonder why we bother paying to insure our cars because when this kind of thing happens they just get away with it and we still have to pay up.

Sorry to hear that mate, hope he ends up in court but it's not much consolation for you.

Surely they don't just get away with it if caught?

Well no, not entirely..but they don't exactly throw the book at them:

74. The way in which the legal system treats those who drive without insurance, or those who drive while disqualified, only serves to reinforce the impression that crimes committed by drivers are somehow unimportant. All too often, penalties are likely to be feeble. The maximum sentence for driving while disqualified is six months imprisonment (12 months in Scotland), a £5,000 fine, discretionary disqualification, and six penalty points on the driving licence. Driving without insurance can be dealt with by a fixed penalty of £200, but the maximum penalties available to the courts are a £5,000 fine, discretionary disqualification and six to eight points on a driving licence. In practice, penalties are usually far below the maximum.

75. Even if insurance companies find ways to reduce the cost of insurance for young people, the fixed penalty of £200 for driving without insurance will remain trivial in comparison. Moreover, rather than accepting the fixed penalty, offenders may opt to go before a Magistrates court in the hope of receiving lower fines, since fines will be set at the level of an individual's ability to pay. Mr Richard Rumbelow of Direct Line Insurance told us "the average penalty for uninsured driving through a court is roughly £150 compared with the average price of motor insurance, which would be £450"

what would that be

police involed and witnesses on my side so if it goes to court hes screwed

At the end of the day you are probably going to have to claim on your insurance maybe lose your NCB and either way the insurance co will screw you over with the premium next year even if it wasn't your fault.

You are going to be out of pocket whilst laughing boy gets a slapped wrist and he will never pay you back all that it will cost you.

I'd paint stripper his car.

Bit obvious Toypop.

Yeah thats the idea, you want him to know who it was but not be able to prove it.

Around my way though its an every day occurance so he would probably just blame it on the chavs again.

Or he may set his house alight while he sleeps.

Or break his legs.

Or go to the police.

Not worth the trouble.

You gotta be smart about these things. Don't do the blokes car straight away.

Give it a few months, maybe six months. Maybe he will get a nicer car with far more expensive insurance.....

No point doing it to some old banger that he will just scrap and avoid making a claim.

Depends on what kind of guy he is.

All very well making a post about that kind of thing, but not many people actually go through with it.

If he has his own insurance dont most companies say your covered 3rd party on someone elses car with permission to drive it?

Think its both you get but the fine isnt always that large.

But its like these people that havnt passed there test yet and they still give em points. What the hell difference is it gonna make to them!

Yup depending on insurance company. Could contact your company, tell them his name, his registration number and let them do the work.

Sure they could find out his insurance details, and if he is insured TPO on other cars, then claim...
