My Cup is fitted with a B&M.

It's crunching into third, sometimes fourth and likes to pop out of both.

I've read that it likes to eat gearboxes and the 1*2 boxes don't like to be rushed....

So I'll get the gearbox rebuilt but obviously I'll need to replace it.

Is there a reliable quickshift kit? Will it be a straight swap for the B&M? I've not got any standard parts from the B&M swap so would need to order any.

I think it is more the fault of the weakness of the box, the quickshift (any quickshift for that matter) just hastens its demise.

and don't rush the shifts....the box doesn't like it.....

Yeah that's what I'd read.

Will the popping out of 3rd and fourth be the box or a mount / the quickshift? Pops out when lifting off in gear over 3k.

I've had a B&M on my track car for a year now - gearbox is still fine and on 118k

I think they're fine as long as you don't bang them through gears as quick as possible

If your using the quickshift to shorten the throw then it shouldn't be a problem. If you use it to actually change gear faster then you may get issues.

The gearbox has too long of a throw on the 1*2 for a performance orientated car. I never noticed it too much until having an MX5 between my 1*2's.

The B&M is superb - you get a musch shorter throw and it makes the gear changes feel very certain, the standard stick is like stirring porridge with a spoon
But you should still try to change gear with the same mechanical sympathy, as Jonny says, while using it.
I bang it through gears as fast as possible on track - but there's no need to be that harsh with it on the road. Just change gear like usual and the boxes are fine :)
