  Clio 172
Been playing around, settled on this idea.

No need to reposition battery which is nice.
Still working on prototype heatshields but getting close to a finished one now.
Also working on cold air feeds, currently have an 80mm feed from fog light to behind headlamp.

Any input CONSTRUCTIVE welcome.

Thanks

Tom

Won't it get just as hot?? coz it will be in an enclosed area, when u close the bonnet?

It's in an enclosed space that is filling with cool air from around the headlamp and from the cold air feed, the heatshield is trying to keep the hot air away from that area

i've done the same on mine its a lot cooler there thanks to the vents in the good old ph1 172 bumper. the cone used to get really hot in its standard posistion.

mines better with it relocated it is a lot cooler there. in the standard possition you have heat from the engine block and the water pipes as well. i need a better pipe though mines all a bit too diy

beem thinking of doing this to mine just trying to find a metal 90 degree pipe with a long enough straight section

motorworld have some but they are not best ever. i'd try demontweeks or a specialist motorsport shop. now i know it works i'll try and get a samco hose made up or maybe a custom alloy one, not sure yet

problem i found with some of the metal ones is they posistion the filter wrong and it doesn't fit properly, meaning the battery would need to be removed. i'm trying to get a pic of mine of my phone nut i'm just struggling a bit.

try and get it up!

with the metal ones if your patient you could heat it up and with abit of will power adjust it

  phase 1 172
never thought about them maybe worth a look

must be easy to get a metal plate also cut a circle out and then you have a fully enclosed filter with great cold air feed

i'm afraid the my bluetooth dongle has given up and refuses to work. to be honest mine looks pretty much the same as in the picture above. there are plenty of ways to do it, it just takes a bit of patience getting it right

Where did you get the Silicone 90 degree bend air feed pipes from ?

And what i.d (inside diameter) are they ?

Have you noticed any diff over standard airbox ?

Apart from noise

bends from siliconhoses.com, next day delivery, good quality.

I.D. is 70mm

Pick us is a bit quicker. Coupled with my exhaust the noise is brutal! Sounds great

I know it's not going to give any real gains but it derestricts the system and sounds great

you would be suprised how much cooler it is there than right next to the engine especially with the cold air coming through the front bumper

Don't know - hope so! Might borrow some equipment and run some tests would be interesting to have some scientific info rather than just people opinions
