My cylinder block thread has rounded off...

Car  Black 182
Basically whoever fitted my spark plugs before i bought the car didnt tighten them all properly, so over time theyve rounded the thread off. Earlier today my spark plug popped out and this is how i know the thread is pooped...

I realise i need it drilling and re threading, but does any one know how much it will cost me? Roughly?
:dapprove:

This has never happened to me but i dont think its due to a loose plug? I read a lot of similar problems on here with the clios, perhaps the threads just weak.

Wouldnt have thought it'd cost the earth from a decent garage.

seen it loads of times, nearly always caused by loose plugs (they have a bloody torque setting on the box but people never use it!) can be done it situ, but its a bit of a t**t/risky

pretty common, usually on cyl 2 for some reason. Cost is hard to pin down until it's done unfortunately, one of those jobs that should be straightforward, but may need an callout fee to the engine reconditioner/machinist to bring out their special tools to do in-situ

Thanks, got a guy coming out who charges £40+vat a go! Pretty happy with that. A fix for about £80 is a lot less expensive than I thought it was going to be if the head had to come off.

they just stick some grease in there and once done clean it up looks very dodge but mines been fine for over 15k now since it was done.. I was thinking F*ck im selling the car while he was working on it but I could never sell my beloved Clio (GAY RIGHT :P)

Plus it's only ally, not like having steel swarf in there if they do miss a tiny bit.

Its your head with the problem by the way, the block is the bigger bit underneath it.
