my engine bay

  clio 182
just thought i would post a pic of my engine bay. started to polish up the plenum and was wondering where to go from here to tidy it up. iv still got a few marks/scratches which i cant seem to get out and its starting to do my head in. do you guys reckon it would be easier to spray it silver or just keep at it with the sand paper??

Will be better off painting it, will be dirty again after a few miles, there is too much dirty metal for it to look good IMO, good work at getting the shine though.

Seems like a waste of time to me though, no one ever sees the engine,

im thinking of spraying it in high temp silver. seems that no matter how long im there with sandpaper it stays the same lol. i take it to spray over it i just need to clean it down (remove polish). wont be any trouble getting it to stick to the metal?

yeah iv only used sand paper. used a halfords type dremmel thingy and it left quite a few marks which im struggling to remove which is why im thinking of just spraying it all in high temp paint instead

What is that plate thingy that is hiding your battery? Is it a custom thing? looks much better than seeing a sh*tty looking battery covered in acid, lol

I'll second your recommendation then ;)

Was actually that guy who told me to use Belgom Alu on it to keep it shiny too :)

yeah keyed it and gave it plenty off coats. will leave it for a day on the car and see how it goes from there. if not will strip off and start again lol. i keyed it using wet and dry?? any other ideas if i do have to redo it??

i love the finished result. think it looks 100 times better than when i started. just hoping the paint sets right. dont want to have to strip it down again lol

Halfords silver high temp paint is crap, i used it once and it came straight off.

I painted mine with normal gloss black and a year on its still perfect, the inlet doesnt get hot enough to warrant high temp paint.

if i do have problems im thinking of trying hammerite as thats meant to be good stuff. wasnt sure if the temps would effect it or not tbh. i take it if i ended up using hammerite it just srays straight on the same?

^^ Hammerite spray should be ok.

I lightly etch primed mine, just a few light coats then painted with normal Halfords gloss black spray. So far it hasnt been affected by heat at all. Win
