My engine sounds like its about to die :(:( Please help.

So my little car, which has been nothing but trouble is poorly!

I'm trying to start saving up some cash to have the dephaser and belts done, but it seems to be everyones birthdays, and xmas is coming, so that's not gone well!

Anyway, we noticed today that she sounds very very poorly! I'm dreading accepting the fact that my car isn't gonna travel many more miles :/ and hoping you kind folks will tell me it is just due to the dephaser, and if i keep her off road a month she'll be able to limp to a decent garage for some tlc.

If anyone knows of garages close hemsworth, west yorkshire (near doncaster) please advise of them so i can give them a call regarding prices.

Sounds like a mix of slight dephaser and a idler/tensioner bearing falling to bits. Fek driving that. Its waiting to go pop.

I assume the belts are due already if you're saving up? When should they have been done?

I wouldn't risk driving that personally.

well we only bought the car about 2/3 month ago, didn't know anything about clios, and bought it on a whim. I then found the dephaser needed doing as it sounded rattly. so as far as i know it has been bad for at minimum 3 month. The nasty noise has only started today Dya reckon thats another problem besides the dephaser? and if yes what? Is it expensive

Well its a new waterpump,coolant and aux kit so parts are circa £200 before labour, yes mine sounded very rough! ideally you need to get it checked over to be 100% sure of what it is..

Ya know whats weird, other day we were driving behind a vxr and my o/h was saying how he'd like one. Obviously i said apologise to the clio. She'll get upset and will break something on us for being traitors and looking at another car!!! Would he listen? Nope! These cars are so bad like women!

Personally I'd have it transported somewhere to be safe. The pump is a good guess but I hate diagnosing from web video shot on a mobile.

Plenty of people who are not "specialists" on here who can diagnose and repair RS clios..

Fred is currently doing my dephaser etc, and as usual he's spotted/corrected so called 'Renault Specialist' work from the previous belt change. It's not a massive conspiracy to increase business for the forum specialists, they just know what they're doing!

If your with the AA or RAC get them to transport your car if your a member then it will be free I did this when my gearbox died start a new thread up and ask if any good garages near you that can do it cheap
