Not for me it doesn't. Body panels of a car do 'a job' but most people don't buy f'ugly cars for a reason.

Couldn't disagree more. I like driving looking out the window(s) - not admiring the additional premium that I've paid for some fancy dash. Never picked a car based on the interior and I never will - but horses for courses is what makes car ownership for different people, so interesting!

Finally, I now know what the place with all the Evo's is called. Have been going past wondering what company it is for years.

Yeah - I went to Gaz's place a few times - really sound bloke. Iirc, his speciality was Cossies before Evos? I do wonder if he's still got that rebuilt VI RS Sprint there? Without a word of a lie - I'd be straight around to his place with an open wallet if I won the lottery. I don't think Evo's even left the factory with that much love and attention thrown at them.

First impressions after a day ownership are these;

1) it's thirsty....real thirsty - yep, especially with a heavy right foot! Keep a bottle of octane booster in the glove-box, just in-case you have to refuel at somewhere that only does 95RON. Not a good idea to run a VI on regular unleaded..... at all.

2) I've never had a car that gets so much attention and looks - same here, the vast, vast majority of it was all good too. Decent ones like yours are becoming more rare and even those who can't get over the looks, certainly appreciate the potency that these have.

3) EVERYONE seems to want to have a 'race' with you - I didn't get that, that much thankfully. Sure you got the 1.1 Saxo idiots trying it on, but I left the majority of them be. The mid-management execs who wouldn't be seen dead in such a car are the best. When they pull up at the next set of lights with the look of utter contempt and disgust that their Germanic machine has been thoroughly put in its place by something costing a quarter of the value - that's priceless.

4) It's a lot better than any scooby I've owned. - I personally wouldn't know. I've only driven a Scooby before, not actually owned one. Definitely a bucket-list car though!

5) It's properly fast - alarmingly so. I'm ashamed to admit (and I won't) about how quickly that thing gets up to speed. But that's only half of its appeal. The fact that you can then carry so much of that speed through a corner, is a true testament to how good they are. The Evo easily outclassed my level of driving ability.

6) I LOVE IT! - I loved mine too. So, so glad that I had the opportunity to own one. Enjoy it!

Yep and yep.

TME's are where the smart money goes - so long as it's a good one. Ironically, the worst Evo I ever drove was a blue TME - the owner was smoking the crack-pipe too as he thought the TME 'additions' justified the hyper-price in his dog of an Evo. They do however, make a much better buy in standard trim, than one you'd plan for modding. The titanium bladed turbo had the better response, at the expense of not wanting to be pushed more in terms of power against regular turbos.

RS Sprint's being utterly stripped-out (not even a carpet in the boot as standard) are for the hardcore and are ultra rare. Ifaik, only 6 were ever registered in the UK and at least 3 of those don't exist any more. Not to be confused with the 'normal' RS model! The RS Sprint would be my No.1 choice, given the chance to have any. Closely (very closely) followed by an imported VI Zero Fighter.

The Brembos are fine for daily use, but anything enthusiastic with them, induces fade very quickly. On track, I was allowing for a longer braking zone within a couple of laps. You'd either have to be a driving God (or insane) to regularly use the OEM brake setup on track. Definitely a weak link in the standard Evo VI armoury.

Don't usually get involved in threads, but couldn't resist on this one. Massive fan of Evos.

Here's a pic of my dad's Evo 6 RS. Very similar to yours cosmetically, except black mirrors and door handles and some performance stuff (has no ayc, windy windows, etc. Pretty much built to be turned right into a rally car).
