My Golf GTI

I know you said you have a specialist, but the guy I use in Halifax for all my cars specialises in VW's, he's ex VW too so if you do need someone else give me a shout :)

You need as well btw.

They look epic in the Gti tartan.

  Mental 172 Cup
Had one of these as a hire car couple years back and loved it.. Only thing it was missing was Xenons.. Apart from that it was spec'd right up.. Good choice.. Looks tidy..

Looks like a nice example. I quite fancy a white 5 door next.

Not keen on those wheels at all though. I'd be spending £400 on some BBS CH reps, swapping the tyres over and selling the Monza's on eBay. I bet you'd get £250 for them so it wouldn't end up costing you much.

You must have had a poorly eddy then, the gti/ed30 is much better on fuel (well when i say much 7-8 mpg plus)

Nah, was nothing wrong with it, dyno'd at 240bhp on SRR iirc. Most of my mileage (well up until this week) was sat at 80-90 mph on my private motorway, & i never got more than 29mpg out of the ed30, similar to the R32. Big turbo on the Ed30 didnt help at those speeds/revs, the Gti ive borrowed in the past was better by 5-7mpg however.

  Fiesta ST Stage 3
Had a go in a R32 4 door manual a few months back .

Very nice car no faster than my EP3 but made a lovely noise .

Only thing that would put me off would be the thirst of it .

Alan

I get exactly the same mpg out of my R32 than i did in the Ed30.

You want fast, buy an M3.

Afew more upto date pictures I took last week.

Thought I'd put them in here.

Cars running really nice, touch wood, although its more thirsty than I remember!

Plans for 2013: Full service and cambelt/water pump due in march.

Possibly some BBS CH wheels (probably reps)

Maybe some H&R or Eibach springs.

  SG boost'd 200
My dad has one of these, but has the DSG box....which is loads of fun! He's also had it de-catted, miltek system and k&n induction, then it was off to AMD for a remap, runs about 285bhp now.
But I'm 21, he's 55 and the golf feels too grown up for my liking! Although I can't fault the Gti, I find that my 197 is more fun when pointed at some twistys :)

  Leon Cupra 300
Looks nice but I'd have to get rid of those wheels! They look ridiculous imo.

You could probably buy some standards and flog those on ebay without it costing you too much, if anything.

I wouldn't say that they look ridiculous.

Apart from the offset they are damn near identicle to the standard 18 inch shadow Monzas.

People w**k themselves into comas over cars with spacers on here.

I do prefer the BBS CH/Pescaras though.

Yes sorry maybe that was a bit strong..

Its the offset I dislike, a lot! The actual wheel style looks nice though.. Even though I'd hunt out one on the 17's. Thats personal preference though.

My one has the same tatty exhaust! Definitely going to have to try Britemax now.

The wheels are a bit hit and miss. The bigger ones do nothing for me, so I looked for one with the 17's. However, I can see the appeal. I Know exactly what you mean about overtaking as well. Love the way the boost is always there, doesn't seem to lag. Makes a nice noise as well...

Is your ARB rattling about over bumps like mine? Or is everything just feeling a little loose?

Ive done the top mounts & ball joints so far, then all the wishbone & ARB bushes are being done in a couple of weeks time. Might do the track rods/ends whilst the front subframe is off too.

Mines just on 77k and the only complaint I have is a loud wheel bearing noise. Apparently cars with the MK5 Golf chassis suffer bad from munching bearings. However, just as bad with a tyre being slightly worn, or the geometry being slightly out... apparently you get a similar noise.

Its going to be my next car, however ill be looking at upgrading in two years time when i'm 23 so ill probably end up getting the MK7.
