You can not have a HID bulb that works with a halogen reflector setup. You don't know what you're talking about. You're starting to look like a muppet kid.

Full fat 172 headlights are projector and they look fine...

They are just rebranded versions of current HID bulbs. The filament design cannot be matched by a gas chamber.

Brown bear are kid = keyboard warrior!

I am only going by what lots of forums / listings are saying about the R variant Bulbs

+ my last set pasing MOT and having a perfect beam pattern

In my personal opinion i dont like the FF headlights (That is my owm opinion)

Nope just calling people muppets is !!

Im not here 2 argue with people , maybe i am wrong ?

but still i will be fitting a set to mine

i just went by a write up on this listing http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HIDS4U-AntiGl...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item230b731e09 (yes i know there probs talkin crap but theres so many diff opinions)

I cant help but LOL at the people getting genuinely angry over the situation!

I personally think they look good, however, if it is indeed true that they will dazzle other road users I do find that a bit of a pish take, but I wont be losing any sleep over it.

On the flip side of the coin, people are always flashing me in the M3! They're standard bi-xenons, and are very bright, but I'm still annoying other people despite keeping within the law...

The only person talking sense is Warren(brown bear) and he then gets called a "keyboard warrior" F**king lol

The Truth hurts for most people trying to defend H.I.D.S in this tread

stop being a bunch of cheapskates and either do it the right way or dont bother!

your gonna end up with a chav mobile and thats what any sensible person on the road will think of you

As said maybe he is rite and talks the the truth!

But to start calling people muppets is a tad OTT

Ill be fitting mine whatever people say.

Then i will be going to get the aim spot on at the MOT station if they have a bad beam pattern then i will sell them back on ebay ;).

i have a pair of 6000k HIDS in my NON PROJECTOR Twingo :)

i like them and they look good.

Also they are less bright than lots on the road too

As far as Im concerned the biggest problem with HID kits is people buying 8K+ bulb kits for their cars, bulbs FAR too bright to use on the road! Some Chavwagons look like a Star Wars spaceship reversing towards you, such is the blue glare...

Not big, Not Clever... Standard 4800K or even 6000K kits are brighter yet bearable to most people, anything over even in a projector lense will sear the back of your eyeballs...

As from the 1st of October the Police can pull you and fine you for "dazzling oncoming traffic" and its 3 points and fine plus an enforced MOT pass within 28 days...

Too bright a light will get you noticed by the wrong people for the wrong reasons - and NOBODY wants that...

I have a HID kit fitted on one side of my CBR400RR for one reason - its a Jap import & the standard bulb is a 35/60W, an I4 fitting (Think H4 with tabs at 60/120/180deg), if you fit a 55/60W H4 the increased voltage will melt the dipped beam switchgear!
HID will only pull 35W high or low, so I get to fit a much brighter light without toasting my wiring... I want to fit brighter lights to my dCi to ease my 50 mile commute over Salisbury Plain every day, but if it means Im going to be pulled by Officer Boredplod - Im going to have to cope... ;)

Im not taking sides, perhaps sitting on the fence - but if you fit HID's - be sensible about your bulb choice...

ive gone for 6k

but to be perfectly honest if i knew that the so called reflector safe H7R bulbs wernt legal/anti glare i wouldnt have bought them

I will get them tested at an MOT station 2 be safe

Just to clarify, I'm not just quoting wiki or making things up. I've had to study lighting and lamps for my profession, and understand more than most the effect glare has on drivers, in particular those over the age of 40. They are flat out dangerous, just because you don't see it doesn't make it any less accurate.

You have to account for the other people on the road, not just yourself. To buy them without knowing this is fair enough. To fit them despite knowing this?

Not this chesnut again...

Oh and for the record, 6000K, 4300K etc refers to the temperature rating of the light output, not the brightness of the HID.

:)

*edit* too slow...

would an MOT station fail them if the beam was all over the place?

I only say this as my ibiza had the so call projector bulbs H7R and passed (one light needed adjusting)

As u can see the H7r has some sort of shield (not sure if it makes any difference atall?)

This is why i thought that they would be fine again in the clio.

But we shall see :S

If not some legal philips nightbreakers will do.

Im thinking if its gets hotter then it gets brighter per se?

The Sun's pretty toasty and that aint too unoticable??

Yes but the rating, in watts, will remain the same. K is the temperature colour in degrees Kelvin.

The higher the K temperature the closer the light gets to 'daylight'.

I brought (;)) a HID kit for mine. Put mine already had projector style headlights

24f282f6.jpg

As said by others hid kits in the reflector types like my main beam above are illegal as the beam isn't controlled.

But people wont listen.

Oh and the K rating is the temperature the light looks like on the kelvin scale not the acual temperature of the light itself.

(unless i misunderstood that post above)

I've got mine in Projector lenses also.

I think I'm right in saying they're still illegal due to not having washer jets or auto leveling, but you're less likely to pee the police off tbh.

I've still taken them out for MOT, mind.

I didn't think race cars had to have head lights? It is a race car, right? Looks like one with that tow eye ;)

I often see this, and it does dazzle. The people saying it doesn't are either already blind, or are blinded by their own selfish desire to have them. Buy a car that has xenons if you want people to think you're rich because you have white headlights.

thats legal, as you have projectors.

Joey is on the money, they still need washers & auto levelling to be legal even if they are in a projector headlight. Saying that, most cops/MOTers don't really care as long as you're not blinding people.

+1

HID's in non-projectors make you look like a pikey.

Thats interesting as an fq300 evo has xenon lamps etc but no washers as far as im aware...I thought this was a bit weird.

Also does anyone find you get people flashing you even if you have "legit xenons"?? I used to get that in the Clio lots. I think any xenons are crazy bright nowadays.

You can tell a BMW coming up behind you as your pretty much in f**king daylight.

Creases me up when a few rational opinions are offered, and the kids start crying about high horses.

lol, as i said in my previous post, all the time in the M!
I dont know why bi-xenons are brighter? But they're far brighter than the tt's xenons, rarely got flashed with those.
