My Insurance Provider Wants A Engineers Report

  Renault clio mk1 p3
My insurance provider wants A engineers report because my car has been written off Before.

I have just changed from direct line (who had written off my car 2 years ago for silly repairs...so i fixed it myself) to new Provider of Insurance, and the new one wants a engineers report.

My car was hit in the rear by a silly little boy racer who had only just passed his test a week ago, I was told this by PC Plod at the time.

Any way, does any one know where i can get a engineers report done around the SE London area/kent

And in my case what would the engineer look for?

Thanks:cool:

easiest option would be to take the car to an MOT station as thats the legal standard for a car to meet surely?

otherwise motor engineers can be found in the yellow pages, but last time i wanted one they have a standard charge of circa £150

AFAIK:

If your car has been recorded as a CAT D, then you just need to get a new MOT for the vehicle.

However, if it is a CAT C, then you need to get the vehicle assesed by VOSA and pass a slightly more strict MOT.

Some people on here will be able to tell you more though.

OK...Well it's being done tomorrow, and its not cheep.

I think it was recorded as a CAT D

The car has had a "VIC" test by VOSA and it got a MOT at the time (2 years ago) and direct line was more than happy with that.

This is the first time i have insured this car with some one else as i have always been with direct line.
