My Mk2 Ph1 (1.2) Pic heavy!

As it started life

First mod, colour coding. sooooo.... bumpers off

rubbed down. primed sprayed laquered and the end result... (sorry about the poor photos in the rain. looks much better without the rain. also note the rear badges painted graphite grey/amphasite.

Side strips also colour coded with colour coded bullets with yellow writing (not sure about that)
So off they come.
note graphite grey hub caps. need some alloys but cant afford them tbh. nearly got some but all 4 tyres were bald. anyone selling any, pm me. preferably renault alloys.

rubbed down etc and back on

Nasty key scratch down the side half way through repair. lol

crack in front wing repaired

front bumper off. (still in spraying shop (garden shed) (yellow badge? yes? no?)

Induction kit (thanks w1ggz)

Door speakers 180watt JBL GTO

6x9's 300watt JBL GTO (well reccomended sound amazing!!!)

Sub 1500watt Infinity kappa.

Amp Legacy 1000watt powering sub and 6x9's. 500 to sub 250 to each speaker

any suggestions on mods welcome.
have restricted budget. wish it didnt look like a tractor but cant afford collies.

nice body work mate. you do it all yourself? why not do the door handles also? change the badge to anthracite to match the others imo.

good colour coding. Need to get all mine sorted, only done the handles so far but when you need to drive it everyday it doesn't happen that quick in my case.

yeah thinking of going that colour with badges, would look alot nicer. door handles are next if the weather holds up! yeah, do all the body work myself. Its easy, and im only 16 lol, 17 in 1 week!!!!!

just the rain, its almost perfect match in the sun! looks good, i'll get some photos up of it when its done and when the weather holds up!

smoke / black out the rear lights. it would look good with the windows and the dark trims.

...also, whats the rule when spraying plastics to colour code? am thinking of doing it to mine but i thought the paint would just flake off on the door handles etc? did you use acid-etch primer or something?

If you become a paid member then you'll find lots of useful guides on here.

Basically it's sand > primer > spray > laquer (few coats of each).

Would love the turini's or maybe some black multispokes but will probably get some renault alloys and go graphite grey with them.
I quite like the ph1 rear lights as they are personally, although am thinking of blacking them out, but not sure. and again would love the 172 front lights especially as i have ice blue xenon bulbs. Cheers for the suggestions

am debating whether to smoke the lights but still not too sure yet.

Spraying plastics is easy. go to a paint shop (not halfords - their too expensive and paint quality is not brilliant)
Get colour coded paint mixed (usually about £10 a can)
Get Hycote Plastic primer (bout £3)
Get clear coat laquer.
2000 grit paper and t-cut.

Basically roughly sand plastic trims, apply about 3 coats of primer. leaving about 20 minutes between coats, then leave for about 4 hours for the primer to cure a little, then apply first VERY light coat of colour and make sure it doesnt react. apply up to 4-5 coats of colour leaving about 30 minutes between coats. then leave 24 hours for paint to cure. then repeat last step except with laquer. then leave for 24 hours. then rub down lightly with 2000 grit paper and t-cut all over to make it dead smooth then polish with decent polish such as meguiars or mer and you wont even be able to tell that it hasnt been done pofessionally! hope this helps.

Yep just rattle cans, its not as difficult as some people make out!

heres the photos (better weather today so you can see the colour coding much better! have also fitted mudflaps and i have also taken some photos of the door that has now been fully repaired and the wing (still alot of rubbing and t-cutting to do) but you can still get a good idea of how the car is coming together. Anyone selling the ph1 172 front seats? would love some!!!!

looking nice,
much the same mods as me

same colour, same induction kit,
and some colour coding,

get ph2 rear lights rather than tinting yours,
faaaaar to much police attention seeing as its illegal,
and if someone smart goes into the back of you, they can make it your fault on the grounds that they couldnt see you braking.

i got pulled over so many times for my back lights,

not a fan of painted trims tho tbh, get some alloys, will make it look 1000X better,
and get rid of the crudflaps, all personal opinion tho.

Colour coding looks spot on, i think i'm gonna buy some spare side strips and have a crack at mine, i quite like the way the black breaks up the back and front, but i'm defo a fan of doing the sides.

The mud flaps would be much better it they didnt say clio IMO and get hold of some alloys, even if they are just 15" dynamic alloys, coming together nicely though, wish i never took my IK off, miss the noise so much!

putting front splitter and bumper back on today so will jhave some pics up soon. also was getting alot of stick from the girlfriend about the colour of the front diamond so thats gone graphite grey now aswell!

just wacked some filler in it and sanded and reapplied filler and sanded untill perfect. I like it alot more, makes it look a little meaner! Im thinking of doing the rear bumped and smoothing all the grooves on that!

Dual Optic headlights - Can pick them up cheap on ebay
Colour code door mirrors
Dynamique or Cup spoiler - Colour coded
OZ F1 alloys
3/4 Size front plate

Looks good so far mate. Similar to mine although i don't have the time or money to do anything to it yet as mines is a shed.
Had 2 engine rebuilds in the the time iv had it and loads of stuff going wrong with it.

Make sure your belts etc have been done

instead of amping the 6x9s amp the fronts and either remove the 6x9s or run them from the HU. You'll find it sounds a lot better

looks good buddy, i wouldnt use T cut though as its quite harsh interms of a cutting compound. there is much better stuff on the market where the particulars break down as you polish them into the pannel. have a look at either meguiars or poorboys cutting compound and make sure you pick something relatively weak. its better to polish the area a few times to get the results than using something too harsh and burn throught the laquer / paint.

ive looked for ages really rare, cheapest ive seen them go for is 70.

got the same model as you, i got it lowered for 70 springs of ebay and they are fine looks loads better, put clear side repeaters in to, silvervisions, ph2 rear lights and dynamique spoiler
