Gave the new car a clean - finally, after 2k and 5 weeks - so thought i'd take a pic or two. I absolutely love it, it's perfect on the motorway and is averaging 55mpg, i'm smitten.

It's had the dreaded swirl flaps removed, had a recent Inspection 2 and I've spent a few quid getting a few trolley dings removed. The only remaining thing I might get done is a remap for a bit more mid-range torque on the m/way.

Think im gonna pass on the remap btw, need to do the wishbone bushes on mine it would seem, so need to put money aside for that instead. Oh, and the Trophy needs £££'s spending on it as well.

I assume to get 55mpg, you sat at 70? I managed 47mpg on the way to Cornwall, but i have to drive like a Saint to get over 50!!

Far from it Dave. If I sat at 70 i'd get nearer 60 I think. 55 is mixed driving on A roads, and m/way at various speeds around 80 odd.

No worries about the remap either - i've just bought a 172 as well.

Looks lovely. Desperately trying to pursuade a mate of mine to get one of these (he's after a big diesel barge). He's still hung up on the BMW badge stigma though. Been trying to tell him that's b****cks but I fear it's falling on deaf ears.

Rob, I work alternate weeks at either end of the country so commute south every other week.

Mike, he won't regret going for the BMW, they are so well made.

172 is going to be a toy, it only turned up today and is a bit of a project as and when I get time.

Swirl flap delete was £155 at PMW in Essex, who had it all done in about 90 mins. Ironically mine came out as new, though it's a ticking clock tbh.
