to answer a few questions, yes i am in nottingham this was on musters road.

i am not sure whos insurance it will go on but i have found a source from pistonheads.com and i have stopped the claim with my insurance company so as to keep my no claims discount.

the woman was driving the escort in the pictures, not a 4X4

Today seemed like quite a productive day for getting the old motor sorted. was going to go through the insurance, but found someone else who can do it without contacting them. insurance already had it taken to a garage for repairs, so i had to cancel the claim.

you will never guess what though. even though i had nothing to do with what happened, and it was not to do with my driving, they had already taken away my NCB!!! how rediculous is that? through no fault of my own! i am so glad that i found these other people.

yeah, i know, but its just soooo annoying not being with the car, and being without it, and there is always the chance that it comes back not fixed right.

my biggest concern at the minute is that they don't fix the cup splitter on, as they are often neglected at dealers.

it had split in 2 and some of the cup splitter had come off.

i'm also really bloody annoyed that i didnt do anything about it, as i saw that something was going to happen, and i had a sense that they were travelling too fast, but i didnt reverse, even though i thought about it. thats another thing thats been playing on my mind.

i also had my video camera mounted on the windscreen but i wasnt filming!

she was not in a 4X4, there was no 4X4 involved, she was in a mk4 escort which can be seen in the first pic on page 3 of this post. she was the one who caused the accident, and the insurance company for the guy who hit me are saying this. i think that either her insurance company will have to pay to fix the clio, or they might go half and half

Just clearing up how the accident happened...the Mk4 Escort was coming from your left to turn into the road you are in. Astra approaches from right as Escort lady decides to 'go for it'. She then changes her mind leaving a tiny gap between your front end and her car, which Mr Astra has to squeeze through...which he ultimately fails to do, missing her but removing your front end in the process? Have I understood that correctly mate?

i had a bump in sept too, and also had this concern, but mine came back with one fitted (cool as the original had a big crack in it!)

i was gonna march to the dealers with a reno booklet of the cup!

Yeah thats spot on mate, the gap was quite big, but she gave the impression that she was going to cross, so the guy panic braked, locked the wheels. she still stopped over the lane divider though.

i just wish i was filming it, but i dont suppose it matters, as the guy who hit me is saying it is her fault, and i am saying that. so its clear cut really, i just hope that my car can be fixed while all this is going on and i dont have to wait around for it to be sorted first, i dont think that will be the case though

Sorry to hear that mate, I know how it feels. My car was in an accident and it was definitely the other driver's fault but I've got a feeling it is going to go 50-50.

thanks for the offer rich, but its at just car clinic at mansfield at the moment and will be repaired there. luckily i managed to stop admiral repairing the car and had my NCB reinstated, got a good guy on the case at the minute and is doing it all through the other guys insurance. dont even have to pay the excess.

Terrible luck mate I wouldn't be too hard on yourself in terms of thinking that you could have done something... for all you know you could have put it in reverse and ploughed into someone behind, meaning more damage and it would then be you at fault...

At least no-one was hurt and your motor (v nice btw) should be repaired without any problems.

i know what your thinking but it was a small road at 7.30am on a sunday, there was nowt behind me for ages. just should have acted on an impulse but didnt.

thanks for the support. went to see it today and they said when the parts have been ordered and come it should take 8 days which isn't too bad.


And Gerry, i dont know where everyone has got the idea that a 4X4 was involved but there wasn't. the cars involved was mine, an astra estate that hit mine, and a mk4 escort that caused the accident.
