Awesome! It looks mint inside!

I love it! Oh and 'RPU' is a proper Ford number plate! ;)

I tried looking for a nice picture of an Orion, maybe nicely lowered with some decent alloys.

This is the closest I got to one that looked good, it's had an RS1800i conversion,
if you could get yours looking like this one, I may change my mind about them being sh*t heaps. lol

My mate may have a spare CVH (The RS Turbo one??) going spare if you ever get bored of the power ;)

Kind of looks like a saphire cosworth, but without the great engine or power to the rear wheels where its meant to be.

They do nothing for me Dave mate. Like Chip said, if I wanted an old turbo saloon i'd have bought a sapphire.

I know you're recreating a bit of your childhood/youth, so I know you'll be keeping it standard.

Going by the attention to detail the Valver had,
i've no doubt you'll have it looking better then when it rolled off the production line.

I totally understand you Dan, Chip would prefer you to be buying a Cav with it's cam knocking its tits off lol. Think they were 108bhp BTW

Best Ford reg's ended in EV such as MEV34J or FEV1H
But the ultimate for me was XOO342F.

Clean yeah, but buying an SRi not a GSi would be as bad as going and buying a 1.6 16v mk2 clio instead of a 172.

Clean GSI's are fetching stupid money. Besides, my mechanic's got three of them so I'd be seen as copying him.

Orions FTMFW!

Haha I used to detest everything Vauxhall but some old ones are growing on me. Mk1 Ashtray GTE for example. Still prefer my Fords though.

The XE was just head and shoulders above any N/A 4 cylinder engine ford had at the time, so consequently vauxhalls of that Era were just generally better cars, in terms of combination of performance and economy as Ford didnt really have a single good all rounder engine. The YB did power well but was offensive on fuel, and the CVH (turbo or not) was just gash IMHO

My Dad had one, 2 of his mates had them and I've had 4 back in the day. I still remember our first family holiday down to weymouth in my dads white 1600i. (C45 AMS) He paid £3750 for that fcuker! lol.

I am wrong! His Orion was C294 AMS, his Cavalier Sri was C45 AAE. I got confuddled.

  Shit little Yaris...
G312 CAR (pretty sure) was a 1.6i Ghia Orion the Ex's Mum had. Was a great car. dissolved though.

Much preferred the MK3 Escorts.

Awesome car - loved these when growing up. I remember going in a Granada Scorpio once and the back seats were electric.

Two letters though XM

Think that the first ever car I went in with electric reclining rear seats was the mayor of coventry's Granada Scorpio when my mate was servicing it and we took it for an extended test drive, reg plate was COV 1 IIRC, lol

LOL.

Looks rather mint actually. My Grandad had one for about 100 years. Black, C/1986, 1.6 Ghia. I loved the centre console clock up by the sunroof !

Just remember - next time you're in Essex buying heaps from the past, look me up first you spoon ;)

I nearly rang you!!

This guy came out to meet me (Single, lived in a minging flat and had teeth missing) and asked me inside and shut the door, it was pitch black and I've got to be honest, for the first time in years, I nearly panicked! Thought he was going to bum me, or worse, steal my money!!

Terrible area though, really grotty.

Told you we should have done it last night... silly ginger plonker.

Still, you didn't get kidnapped or molested and you've got home with the car in one piece.

Now quit fannying about and YB/RWD the damn thing !!

I'm told these had a clock on the roof lining or something? That was it's novelty feature?!

They did yes. On pre 1990 cars, they were grey background with black LCD, on 1990 cars they were a black background with illuminated green display.

And also, on the indicator display on the dashboard, the arrows that light up when you indicate were solid green until 1989. 1989 onwards they were just outlined in illuminated green.

I have an unlit interior clock (pre 1990) and outlined indicator arrows (post 1989).

Fuel computers never came in until late 1988 either but mines an 89 so I have one of those. fully working too!)

(Yes, I am a fcuking loser)
