My next car, v6 clio??

When i've finished abusing my 172 track car, i want a car that i can cherish, polish, and generally pamper. Is a v6 worth that? My only options really are either a mk2 clio v6 255 or a Escort cosworth. I'v never wanted any other car more than either of those, but is a clio v6 really worhty of that 'status' yet?? I mean for instance, when i see a cossy going down the road (which is very very rare!) i actually stop what i'm doing and my jaw drops and i dribble.
When i see a v6, yeah i stare, but i don't think its in the same 'league' as a cossy.

I know there are better and faster cars out there than the pair of these, but for me, they're my ultimate weekend car. In the world. Ever.

Opinions anyone??

Cosworth any day, i am in the same mind set as you mate. I love those cars since i could understand what they were. I will certainly own one but the problem is that not many of them about are nice standard examples that having been played with by chavs nowadays.

Cossie is a true leg-end but there's too many fakes out there now for my liking.
The Clio V6 is becoming more 'iconic' I feel and is still very difficult to immitate convincingly.

Mikey, i know what youre saying, but if you REALLY want a standard mint example, you will find it. Theres plenty about, you just need to spend a bit more dollar.

Lancia Delta Integrale Evo 2 ? More exclusive than either of them two .
And will never fail to turn heads . You get used to the LHD , i did.

True, just looked on Piston heads but you will find majority of them will have something done, most of them will have the magnex exhaust fitted as they rust and people just opt to put a stainless on.

Most people that seem to own them now stick on rondels, big turbo, Ap racing brakes and then slam them on coilovers. I would love to find a standard one and set it up perfectly, i would probably modify it but only to things that can be put back to standard.

Would love one some day but just at the moment.

i had the choice.....then i realised only chavs drive cossies, and chavs that are in denial. v6 will get more looks, plus lasses love them...!!!! nuff said 255 was the only way for me, as the front end was more my cuppa tea.(did ya hear the rhyme??)

cossies only get looks from people who know and chavs

the vee gets looks off every one, and i mean every one so you better like the attention!!! no other car has that power!!!

To a lass you can harp on all day that its a Cosworth etc to them its just an F reg Sierra!
I do like them but LY vee FTW.

I want a car that people will understand, respect and admire for what it is.

iconic = cossie, the v6 clio hasnt been out long enough to be classed as a icon imho

Standard escort cosworths aren't overly quick after 60 mph.

How can a clio v6 not be an icon ?? They handbuilt a clio with the engine in the boot, works for me.

no question in it, get the escort. Tbh i dont see the fuss over a v6, i would rather a nice 182 on throttle bodies then a v6. The car ive wanted my whole life is a escort cosworth

V6 Build quality, is something i have not had to think about, no rattles compared to my last 182. or the piece of s**t 1.2 i had (like A18XHO has) its leagues above normal clio quality. and mr t**t monkey if you are one day lucky enough to sit inside a vee let alone own one, you will see what the fuss is about.

at the end of the day its just a fat clio with a v6 enigne in the rear? not even fast? you really think i would get excited about sitting in a £10k clio lol seriously do you feel like a big man or well good about yourself for owning a v6 clio lol woah! sorry dude! dont know anybody whos like omg clio v6 wet my pants, people just go on about them as if they are the worlds gratest thing. I dont care if my cars only a 1.2, have many times have you heard me go on about how its soo superior and great it is. All im saying is i would much prefer a escort cosworth over a clio v6

Also if you can name me 5 things that make the clio v6 good i might think they are ok :)

Lancia? meh.

Lancia is more iconic than the cossie and the vee put together.

You don't win 6 Rally championships (5 in a row in that 6!) without it being a truly special car.

On the road they look the sex. Get a Giallo Yellow EVO 2, has the nicest interior colour/material combination. Polish and love it and you will get admiring looks from Ferrari drivers.

I'd have one over any cossie and any vee.
 
They will always be a special car, and as a Renault nut I have a fond affection for them.

Greatly flawed though and not fast, not compared to proper supercars in which the tag seems to get applied to it.

I'd have a Renault 5 Turbo (preferably with the maxi kit) over a vee, mid engined Group B rally car > Laguna engined clio shell with bonded on kit.

I must admit the Escort Cosssie is a true icon of a car and it deserves a shedload of respect.

The problem occurs with road presence, the cossie 5 to 10 years ago would get rubber necked by everyone no matter who they were but IMHO this doesnt happen anymore and only like minded car enthusiasts give it the respect it deserves......unfortunate i know!

The V6 on the other hand is the cossie from 5 to 10 years with its road presence you can go anywhere and people just stand and stare, you definitely cant be discreet in a vee.

I think its very unfair to say which is the better of the 2 as they are both true icon's of cars and both should be treated differently.

And yes i would love to own a Escort Cossie (but maybe 5 years ago.) ;)

Cossie hands down as one think people seem to forget is other than the massive tunning potential (and trust me a mild stage 3 with 380bhp feels mental) you will never loose any money on the cossie as long as its mint. Keep that in mind they have great residuals and a bigger following/networkk/tners.

Out of the two, it'd be the Escort for me at the moment, but would have to be totally standard and mint. Give it 10 years and I'd probably prefer the Vee.

But, I have to say I'd rather the Delta Integrale as a true enthusiast weekend car over either of those.

I've never understood the excitement over 20-year-old cars..

I'd have a Vee over en Escort (no matter what it was!) any day of the week.

I know you'll just say I'm not a true car enthusiast, but to me the Vee looks stunning, whereas the Cossie looks like an old boy-racers car with a stupid spoiler (and yes I know it's standard) - and most people would say the same. Only people that really know about Cossies would care.
