My Ph1 172 Mods begin...

  2001 Clio 172
Howdy from across the globe.

Just started my daily driver/track toy mods on my Sunflower 172.
New Brembo HC's with Green Stuff Pads in the front, Braided brake lines front and back from Godspeed (excellent service btw) 2 new rear wheel bearings all fitted and Eibach Sportlines on the way.

We run greenstuff pads on our 26r Elan racecar and our 73' Alfa GTA and they are fantastic in those and my god they are brilliant on the clio. Me and my old man took the car out yesterday for a good stretch and found the brakes to be the best we have ever used. Better that my old Evo 3 rs, V3 STi RA, Cossie etc etc. Almost feels like you could stand it on its nose!

I have however got some noise from the front left I believe which sounds alot like a wheel bearing. As above I have just done the rears so they are now fine however im told by a few people down here that the front wheel bearings very rarely wear out. Is it at all common for the fronts to get noisy? The car has done 143,000KMS.
The front bearings are impossible to get down here unless I go to renault themselves and I am sure they once charged my for breathing the last time I walked in their service department.

green stuff pads are for road use. for track i would personally use yellow stuff as they are very effective.

Yea we have found them superb on our other race cars so trying them out on the Clio. The car only gets a run once a month or so so will see how they hold up. Plus I get ebc pads half price ; p
