My photoshop clio V6 creation, scifi style

  visualize whirled pe
It seems quite a few people have been posting up their photoshop and clio based art so I figured I'd have a crack at a scifi style clio V6 and to draw a car is a welcome break from the dregs of design work I normally do, it's also been a while since I did any futuristic concept art.

So here's a basic process.

I drew the design on paper first. I used a few vehicles for inspiration including the new twingo and the renault f1 cars.

Then create all the line work, so I had something neat to work from, it's also a good stage to make a few corrections to the sketch work.

Now airbrush, it's helpfull to select areas and block colour in first then concentrate on adding highlights, building up the colour depth as you go.

Naturally there are a few layers and you eventually build up to a final image but these are the basic steps I've used on this image.

All in all it took about 7 hours to do between *****ing around on the net. (and trying to organise getting my clio fixed, that's another story though)
Let me know what you think.

wow, you have a real talent there!

how did you learn to be that good?

Cheers for the comments,

The shell of the car is sectional (incase you are wondering how you get in and out) kind of like a jet fighter the cabin opens up and slides away, not safe or paracticle but..... I used the old Rtype / thunderforce ship as reference there (I love the design of the R-9)

I've been drawing since I was a nipper, I think my folks have even kept the first drawing of a car I did, (I still make brum brum noises when I draw too)

Here's a piece I did a while back, it's all painted in Photoshop from scratch, no sketch or line layers in a graphic novel style for my portfolio. It features the R-9 I mentioned (with the canopy) from R-type.

wish i could put my ideas down on paper like that! i could design my own tattoo's and not have to get other people to design them for me
