My Project ph2 172, code name "purple murple"

  Kangoo 172 Cup ;)
Hi folks,

This is the start of my build thread.

Nothing to extreme, fast road / track setup.

It will be chassis biased, I am not hunting for engine performance figures.

The first big changes will be starting this week, I have a week off work and a large pile of parts and gadgets ;).

Progress and pics will be updated.

It begins!

You need to link to the location of the picture, not the website the picture is on ..

On flickr, click 'actions' above the pic, then BBCode for the medium 640x size, copy that, and just paste it straight on here as it's already got the code for images.

Right,

Since my 172 passed 100K a few weeks ago, I decided to crack on with a few bits and bobs.

First came a full engine oil flush, followed by filter change and Mobil 1 oil.

Next on the list was the gearbox oil, and coolant change.

I also decided to pick up a few other handy bits and bobs for this week i.e. solvent parts cleaner.

I have been getting annoyed with the 1000000 stone chips on the front bumper, and the colour match was way out, so popped along and picked up a litre of paint.

Car came in.

Then the boring bit, waiting for the paint to dry............

Luckily, I decided to use a very fast 2K Paint hardener, so i could hang about until the clear coat was touch dry and reassemble the bumper fitting the fogs, upper and lower grills, headlight jets and badge.

I also decided to cap off the pipework to the headlight jets because the balls are missing, and they just leave a pants mess all over the bumper that i seem to spend loads of time polishing out...... I left the jets in place to keep the holes filled until some cup blanks come up on the forum.

Then bumper back on, bolts tight, fog light loom reconnected and job done!

Was my trade until I had to get a proper job :( , have a small unit with my dad near our house we do bits of our own, and a few bits for friends etc.

Not even had chance to flat and polish the clear coat yet as its not hard enough yet, another job for tomorrow.....

Right!

I have been getting bored waiting for gadgets to arrive, so I decided to fit a pair of new ball joints at the front.

I have noticed they had a little play in them, and were getting noisy. The drivers side came out with no issues at all, and the passenger side was a pain but nothing a large drift and an even bigger hammer could not sort ;)

Sorry for the last poor photo.

After being a little inpatient waiting for DHL, I decided to take a trip to our local depot to try and collect a set of Gaz coilovers, thanks to Avstar1 for doing me a great deal on them :).

They have only done 500miles or so, and look mint, like new.

So my Eibach camber bolts came to, which is nice...........

On went the lot. Easy to fit, no problems at all.

Now the camber bolts! Again easy to fit, BUT when I try and get any kind of camber going on, the tyre hits the coilover! So it looks like I am going to have to space the front wheels out which is a bit of a pain.

While waiting again I fitted a set of Mocal braided brake lines. My original front flexi pipes were pants, poor condition and causing a lot of pedal travel once I had the fluid warm, and the result now along with as set of new disks and Bosch pads is much better.

Todays task is to sort the exhaust that's rattling on the rear axle since I fitted the coilovers.

I am also gonna pop and get the tracking checked and sorted to tide me over until it goes to Rob Boston Racing in a few weeks to get all the geometry set-up correctly.

Well, been a while since I have added any updates, so here is a few.

First of all, I needed to get rid of the poo budget front tyres, so decided on a pair of Pirelli P-Zero Nero's, and I am glad I did, very happy with them.

Next was to cure my problem with my camber bolts, not letting me get any camber due to the tyre touching the front coilovers.

Sorted this with some 25mm hub-centric spacers ;).

I also fancied a change with my exhaust............... so ordered an Oreca Motorsport system with De-cat from K-tec. Very happy, loving the wet farts and pops.

The pee shooter is awesome, people abuse my tail pipe now, until its at WOT ;)

Also fitted a cheeky carbon front diamond to.

I have been spending quite a lot of time setting up the dampers and camber, and I seem to have it about right now.

The extra 50mm in track seems to have helped loads to.

I took it up to Edinburgh a few days ago with work, and the car loved the A68!!!!!!

I have sorted my headlight washers at last. Ordered a pair and ended up with 2 n/s ones........ sorted that and managed to get them in place, new pipework ran and all working the morning before the Lincolnshire meet on Sunday the 26th.
