My silver ph1 172

So after recently selling my dci 172 rep and moving on to a mk6 fiesta zetec s for my second year of driving I decided I would like a 172 after my second year of driving when my insurance drops a bit more as I really liked my clio, however when a family member was selling his ph1 172 at a good price I couldn't resist.
I'm probabley going to wait until august when I turn 19 and have two years no claims to put it on the road. which means I can spend a little time doing some bits on it in the mean time. Also I toke it for a quick blast down the road and it's scarcely quick compared to anything I'm used to driving so think it's good to wait a little longer.

Anyway the car is an x reg with 81k on the clock, full service history, every mot from new, it was owned by my cousin before me and his brother before him so I know the car well.
The plans for it are just to get it as tidy as I can as if I modify it I'll stand no chance of being able to insure it,

I know this isn't much of a project yet more just a load if pictures of what I want to sort but I'm kind of skint after bying it so progress will be slow to start.

As most clios the steering wheel is rather Mankey so I would like so get this retrimed unless I can find a mint original replacement.

The drivers mat is also very worn however I have got a set of ph2 sport mats to go in then I shall see If I can find another ph1 divers mat as the rest are very good and I like the single pice rear one .

As you may have noticed I've also got a 3/4 front plate to go on and a leather repair dye thing although the bolsters on the seats are very good .

And finally one of the things I'm desperate to do is refurb the wheels as like most ph1s the spokes are starting to flake and it' just let's the hole car down.

Fitted my small front plate tonight. Used some Velcro pads I got from tesco which means I can change between this and full size one easily aswell as being able to remove it altogether when cleaning. Was dark when I done it but got some bad pictures anyway.

So gave the car a good wash and cay bared the bonnet and some of the front end then I got the f1s off so they can be refurbished, put my 2118s on it for now and they really don't suit it so this should keep me motivated to get the f1s sorted quick .

Thanks mate, love how you can remember the regs ahah there seems to be more bad ones then good ones for sale IMO but search hard enough and you will find one :up:

I saw them both on here later after I sold them. The silver W reg one ended up on some gash wheels and had those gay aero catches on the bonnet. Think it ended up getting scrapped a couple of years down the line 😧

Started on the wheels tonight after a mate poped the tyres off the bead for me so I can get a nice finish around the edges. However I've had to leave the valves in as I won't be able to get new ones in if I cut these out .
Even though I have done some sets of wheels befor these have got to be the hardest to run down :wearyne is primed up and it's looking quite good so far

Love a ph1 project. It's funny because the 2118's are a great looking wheel and look great ph2's but they look nowhere near as good on the ph1's.

Thanks it's not the most exiting project at the minute though as I spent out buying it as well as still trying to run my current daily and progress on restoring my mk1 fiesta 😅
Yeah always loved them on my other one but you just can't beat the f1s on a ph1

So had the car on the road for a week now after finding insurance at a good price. Really been enjoying driving it ,and it's definitely a lot faster than what I'm used to but it great being in a rattley Renault again :smile:
There was a bit of a knocking from the rear so changed the exhaust mount as it was shot anyway but it still has a knock from smoothing so need to sort that.:up:

With the weather getting better I've been keeping on top of cleaning the car as much as I can. Still been unable to work out where the knocking is coming from on the rear though :weary:So just going to drop some pics here . :tongueclosed:

Small update started collecting parts now, got a gates cambelt kit and genuine renault dephaser and water pump. Just want to get an alternator belt kit then i can fit it all .:up:

So I brought a cup spoiler for the car the other night as it was local at a good price . Had to fiddle with the brake light a bit to get it working but I'm happy with hiw it's is now. Not sure if a cup spoiler on a ph1 is to everybody's taste but I like it :smile:

Also went out for a good drive out a few evenings ago and tock a couple of pictures I quite like
