Why does that engine look like a renault engine.

It is a Renault engine - F7P 722. Volvo and Renault shared there engines for some years ( and still do share various components )


The most common engine fitted to the 340 Volvo's was the C1J and the F1N. Right up until 2000 the Renault Laguna used the N7Q 2.0 16v 140 bhp engine from the Volvo. The F9Q ( DCi ) units from the Laguna's were fitted in the S40 volvo's up until recently.
