My tracking’s waaaay out!

  The Jinx

Had to get 2 new rear tyres on my dci before my mum takes delivery of it, so thought Id pop back with the valver to get the tracking done.

They couldnt do it. Its all seized up! Probably never been done before. So they WD40d it and tw*tted it with a lump hammer and said to come back next week, hopefully it will have loosened up.

But its supposed to be toe-ing in 2mm apparently but is toe-ing out 5mm! What effect will the correction have on the handling? Could this have contributed in any way to my spin on the NW meet the other Sunday?

Do you mean camber mate ?? this can be counteracted by camber corecting bolts !! as can toe !! Probs coz its lowered !!

Soak the track rod ends in WD-40 !! And i mean SOAK !!

Nah, its not lowered. Camber is the vertical angle isnt it. Castor is the horizontal? This is the horizontal alignment. Basically the front wheels are pointing outwards.

Anybody else help with how this affects handling? He also said not to drive too far with it set as it is. Presumably this can do some damage?

Tried to get the tracking done on mine a couple of weeks ago and mine was seized too, he told me to bring it back when they were less busy to sort it. He said it was toe out too but not enough to cause any problems driving it.
