Ive just recently upgraded my brothers system to XP Home but when he selects shut down the computer shuts down then simply boots back up again.

It doesnt want to turn off for some reason.

Ive tried changing BIOS settings, removing wake on LAN and wake on MODEM etc but with no joy.

Any suggestions?

paddy - is there a modem connected during this process? via RJ45 cable (ethernet)

if so, disconnect the modem before you shut down, this should stop it, WOL is a pain in the arse

It was somthing related to WOL i think because i just disabled everything not required in the BIOS and its shutting down properly now.

Cheers for the help everyone.
