My Xbox 360 nearly burn't my house down

Playing the 360 last night and heard crackling sounds then a big bang followed by a s**t load on smoke from behind the TV.
Never got off the sofa so fast, ripped the power supply out the wall and chucked it in the garden.
Power supply caused the problem and now its just a pile of molten plastic

now if I had been downlaoding a demo or something on live It would have been unattended, and I could have been homeless today. Bloody microsoft!!

Anyone heard of this before?

Crazy!

Never had that problem, the power socket on the back of mine is a bit burnt, but that was when I was using the Nyko Intercooler (load of crap for the record).

Everything breaks eventually though!

They have a 3 year warranty now so if you can live with the inconvenience of returning them every so often don't think it would put me off getting on. Just think it is poor that so many break, the original Xbox was a solid piece of kit, although my disc laser takes ages to read a disc now.

Ive had mine for a year and a half and have had no problems with it at all. Its not just the 360 that breaks a lot anyway, my little bro has gone through three PS2s in the last year.

Everything does break! Well anything electrical anyway, usually just after the warranty has run out!

Wouldn't surprise me if the recall rate was over 33% though, everyone I know has replaced there's! You are right though it is very poor, especially considering how much it is costing MS outright and in negative PR. Apparently even the new Elite has the same problems...

They basically have by extending the warranty to 3 years over the 12 months. Idea is they will all eventually break and be replaced.

Rather leave them a bit longer. Sony dont have a great rep when it comes to bringing out new tech either both the PSX and PS2 had laser problems that surfaced after a while.
