N/S brake light is dull

hello.

When I brake, my dash lights dim and the nearside brake light is also much dimmer than the offside.

what would be causing this? strange that the dash lights also dim (normal operating lights for computer and clock, headlights are turned off).

any suggestions?

You have a faulty earth mate

changed the bulb, and all is good

It did it in my Saxo except that when i braked the dash would light up if i wasnt braking the dash wouldnt light up, Rather dangerous at night when you didnt know how fast you was going wither
