NAS help / question

So I have recently purchased a ugreen 4 bay NAS.

I put 2x 2tb nvme in it to start with, I didnt have any money to buy any drives at the time of purchase. So I've been uploading stuff and its been storing on them.

Received 2x 4tb ssd yesterday which I've now installed and its set them up as a separate storage pool. Ive been on Google and YouTube but can't find the answer.

Will it just keep filling the nvme until they are full and then start filling the ssd?

Or do I need to set it up in a different way? I'm confused!

You'll need to flatten it all and set it to be a single RAID array if you wanted to use the entire space

But that will involve exporting all of the data and then moving it back once you've rebuilt the array with all the drives

Doing so will also slow the RAID down to the slowest of the disks and also the raid size will be that of the smaller discs too.

Id look at using one pool for one app and another for a different app.

Apps?

Its just cloud storage, nothing else

This all seems like a right ball ache, I thought I could just add some more drives when I needed space. Didn't know I'd need all 6 drives up front 😔

Aye but a standard SSD is plenty fast enough for what most people need

Most people use unraid and bang all of the drives into a pool
I just had a old HDD fail, so I've moved over to ssd and raid.

At some point in life im going to have to send the HDD for repair 😔 so I can get my photos off.
