Nasty grinding noise :(

I'm getting a really unhealthy grinding noise when I take my foot off the gas and let the car coast in gear.

It's really noisy in 1,2,3.

Could this be the driveshaft going or is it the gearbox or something else?

I'm getting that too but dont have a clue what it is mines worst in reverse. Dont think its driveshaft though, that tends to make a knocking noise.

The noise is as if something is spinning and it's catching on something.

Yeah mine is exactly the same, the noise on mine is coming from the back

Guys did you ever sort this?
Just ordered a new driveshaft as mine's crackered, but its making the above noise when coasting and when i've been for a long drive.
I thought it was clutch related?

It must have been the brakes on mine, they were nackered.

Since I have had the new brakes on the noise has gone away.

That kind of noise is usually akin to the synchromesh for those gears wearing out, which means a gearbox fix up. It is french after all, I went through a box in my old megane, they're not the most robust drivetrains

Any new ideas or experiences??? I'm getting the same noise. It started after ftting a powerflex dogbone rubber.
