Need CCTV setup

Got up yesterday to find some git had been round the back and got into the wifes car, didn't take anything but to know they dont care about coming round the back i now want a camera setup and not sure whats a good system, any help would be great. Don't know anything about them but dont like the idea of leavin a video/dvd on all night recording, been told about one which saves to a memory card so any incidents u pop it in the pc and playback.

Just want a basic system so i know who they are cos pretty sure there from round here, 2 cameras would be best to watch rear and side. Just been told maplins have some decent ones so gonna have a look now, thanks.

hook a camera up to your computer system and run something like zoneminder which has built in motion detection and recording with event management.
