need help connecting my rs tuner

As title says, I'm having trouble connecting the rs tuner. I've downloaded the latest rs tuner (4.40) and i've installed it on my laptop but when I press connect I get an error message saying , unknown vci firmware, please connect catchup vci and try again.

Any suggestions?

Also I have the tuner plugged into the laptop and the OBD port but the red light doesn't stay on, it just flick on and off when I first plug it in.

I had the same problem and had to revert back to the old software 4.27

Is the red light meant to stay on as mine doesn't

Just plug the unit into a difference computer and the red light flicked on then went straight back off, I'm guessing this is normal?

I'll try the older software when I get home.

yes perfectly normal flickers on and off. when reading the ecu or writing the ecu the light shall remain solid red

Tried again lastnight on a mates computer that uses windows 7 (im using vista) and it still didn't work.

This is the message i get when i open the rs tuner program.

Looks like the device is found but the drivers are not. Go into device manager (Right click Computer -> Properties -> device Manager) and look for any unknown devices. Right click them and uninstalled them. Once that is done uninstall the RS tuner software and reboot the PC.

Install RS Tuner and run it up, then plug the USB cable in and let it discover the device and install the driver once this has been completed it will tell you if it needs a restart or not, follow what is says.
Let me know if you still have problems.

I am running RS Tuner on a MacBook with a Virtual Windows 7 without problems after doing the above.

Are you sure it's connected to the car?

I'm pretty sure it gives a similar message if it isn't.

Problem solved I borrowed a laptop with windows XP.

Now I have a new problem, it's saying unrecognized vin??

Thats caused by the 4.40 software i had the same problem you need to either send a debug log to Henk or source the 4.27 software

If I had an issue using an Rstuner I'd email Henk (owner of Fastchip) explaining the problems I was having. If your new to the Rstuner it can be rather confusing Henk will be happy to help I'm sure.

4.41 version is on the site for some time which fixes this problem with the old style interface.

im having the same problem, ive downloaded 4.41 but its coming up with the error - the procedure * could not be located in the DLL libusb0.dll
