Need help ! Smoke coming from engine

Today i was on the motorway when my engine overheated and nearly went on fire =|

The engine overheats and lots of thick smoke comes from the engine.

There is a small valve at the right hand side of the engine block and there is smoke and the water (Anti-Freeze) Spraying out of it .

Any ideas ?

Maybe something has came off of the valve, it looks like there is a screw thread on it .

I think it's more likely steam. sounds like the bleed screw had fallen out

thats what i was thinking , looks like somethings to be screwed in to it but nothings there

Any ideas where i could get the part number

stick up a picture. if it's what i think it is, it's literally just an m6 bolt

sounds like the 'bleed nipple' has fallen off,
never heard that happen before, is it on the side of the thermostate? facing outwards??

have you tinkered with the coolant and anypoint??
dont see any reason this should just pop off,
pop a new one on and make sure its tight

Its the bit facing outwards on the side of the engine,just where the coolant pipes go in to the engine

If its that it should be ok to pop on a plastic dust valve . think it should fit

any ideas where i could get one from ?

Haven't read the thread but if its the bleed nut for the cooling system it needs to be metal, Or strong plastic with a good seal not a dust cap

Is it a 1.2 16v? They are dust caps as standard on the bleed screws, as are all of the diesels.

Just got the Rac out in the end

He stuck a dust cap on the bleed screw and the thermostat will need replacin but thats it thank f**k
