Need more BASSSSS!

  SchwepTek™
Since fitting the rollcage, i had to remove the sub and am really missing the bass.

I sat in my dads new Mondeo last night playing with the stereo and it sounds like theres a 1000000w sub in there its so bassy!

Its got 8 speakers - 4 tweeters and 4 components so why is it so bassy and how can i get more bass WITHOUT a sub???

:)

I have gone back to standard headunit now i dont have a sub and have bought an ipod connection for it.

All i have is uprated speakers but they are only Sony Co-ax.

Have to admit, ive had to put a sub in my car.
Thought i could manage without, but the music sounded w**k.

Alpine 12's are very bassey or jbl, rockford fosgate both american but run with higher current (amps) THUMP.

  Works...kind of...
Dont bother. Either get a proper sub in the boot or don't bother.

Decent headunit, decent components that are installed well with sound deadening and baffles, decent amp.

That will give you a good high bass/low mid bass kick.

I want to keep the standard headunit now.

I have had a sony headunit and a JVC dvd unit but sold them both to have a standard looking one with ipod adaptor.

I need to uprate speakers but surely i can get some sort of sub.

hey...
I have a standard headunit and i and running one jbl amp to power my components and then i am running a vibe off of the amp... The way i did it was to use the high to low converters so it gives you the rca ports you need... plus i think it sounds no different to have an aftermarket headunit that has rca ports in the back!
Hope that helps

Them active subs look quite snazzy! Reckon they would fit under a set of reclining buckets....? and could I have 2?

Schweppy I took the rear seats out of my corsa then used some vibe 6x9's in 6x9 boxes where the bench was. As the speakers are designed to give all the vocal range the bass was increased

Heres an idea. Why not spend some money on fixing it mechanically?? Little Birdie tells me you're not driving saturday because its broken. Again.

TBH if I was you, I would fit some 6x9s and uprate the head unit.

Not a usual response from me, But you arent going to get decent bass with out an amped sub, And 6x9s are going to provide the best bass from a regular speaker of an uprated head unit.

Sound deaden the rear quarters and fit 6x9's in there?? Thats what I was thinking about doing in my Valver.

a) this thread was posted before i had problems
b) i have spent lots of money trying to fix the car and Paul is trying his best.
c) i am not driving on saturday to help prevent further damage but if paul works his magic then i may still be able to drive
d) i am merely asking for advice on how to get more bass
e) HIIII. x :)

That would be my suggestion.

A friend came to me with a Stripped to f**k Turbo'd VTR wanting a similar experience. I made a cardboard template of the hole left by removing the doorcard then transfered this to some MDF rear door cards and carpeted them in same material as his cobras and bonded them in place with 6x9 in just powered off a head unit probably putting out 15wrms. Due to the fact the rear quarter is kinda sealed, It creates quite a nice enclosure (please note, not perfect)

In the end, He purchased some Carbon rear door cards, Which i cut a 6x9 hole in and affixed to the door card "gap" with windscreen sealent. Was a huge improvement in sound and added little weight.

In essense, I would have sound deadened the inside of the rear quarter panel, But i am one to add weight to a car to increase aural pleasure rather than take stuff out of the car.

IMO this is a very effective way of improving sound in a stripped out car without the weight, Mention this on an audio forum and they will bang on about how bad 6x9s are and how amps are needed, But i think this is a very good compromise to improving audio.

This also looked quite good with carbon door cards and a cage. When i say door card its basically a sheet of carbon, No fancy mouldings.

Give me a shout if your interested in doing this and ill be happy to give a more indepth post!

Thats also an option, A better option than my suggestions but heavier and more expensive.

A Clio with an interior rattles to f**k with road noise, Stripped outwith a sub should be interesting ;)
