Need some advise please mk2 1.2

Basically a lad from work broke down and has now decided to sell his clio for cheap so I am buying it tomorrow. I went to tow it back and got the car started but it was running on 3 cylinders and then I noticed it had no water in it. I am presuming it is the headgasket but im not 100% sure.
Anyway I went to the scrap yard and found a 1.2 8v engine and an alternator for £100 (£160 delivered). I didnt think this was too bad but ive never owned a Renault before so I know nothing about them and how much to pay for parts (hence why im here).
My plan was to fix it and sell it but I have been thinking about keeping it as a track toy but I dont know what engines go in and I cant find any info at all on this topic.
The car is only costing £100 so I dont want to spend £3000 on a turbo conversion, just something cheap that will be more fun than a 1.2. The car is a V reg (mk2 i think?) 3dr.

Any help/advise will be much appreciated

How much would I expect to pay for a 2.0 sport?
If I fix it to sell I will stick with the 1.2 but if I keep it I want something more powerful.
I am unsure what model it is (8v/16v) I only had a quick look around it and towed it back, its a V reg 1.2 if anybody can give us an idea.

Will the 172/182 drop straight in? How much would everything cost (gear box/engine/ancillarys and whatever else I may need). I want to do this as cheap as poss really.

Ok I got the car today and got it for £50! bargin! Not had chance to look at it yet though will prob have a nosey tomorrow.
Can anybody tell me what parts I will need to stick a 172/182 engine in and roughly how much it will cost. I want as much poke for my doe as possible and dont want to spend a fortune.

Have you considered taking it apart and selling for bits? You'd probably make a packet on here and ebay!!!! People are always after doors, bootlids, bumpers, most of the interior pieces? Unless your set on keeping it?

I though about that but its abit too much hassle. Would prefer to just put a few weekends aside and either get it running and sell it or to make it into a track car for the summer.

If this car was working how much should I be looking at selling it for? I looked in autotrader and they range from £700-2500?!

I think it has around 90k on the clocks but the engine I got offered had done 40k. Its only a basic model no electric windows or anything. I should shift it pretty easy then if I advertised it for £1000?

yeah tax is fairly chep on them, 6months tax and 1yrs mot advertise it for 1200 take 1k easy

if u want a track car strip it out get some buckets and coilovers from the spare change after the engine conversion and should put a big grin on your face

Yeah that was the sort of thing I am fancying but I would prefer to do the work myself so I learn abit along the way. A few of my mates are mechnics so if I get stuck hopefully they will have an idea lol.

By track car I mean coilovers, bucket seats and totally stripped, on as much of a budget as possible. I dont see the point in paying £3k for an engine conversion when I can buy a complete 172 for cheaper lol.

Is there any other specialists apart from k-tec who sell clio-specific parts?
Being new here (well im presuming thats why?) I cannot access that part of the forum.
