why is he volunteering the info about the last owner's wife expecting etc, i know what he's getting at... but still.

Angel eyes are fugly. Sounds slightly chavved from the mods listed, but difficult to tell without seeing it

Deffo need to know if the belts have been done, any prangs in the winter etc. Get looking for creases in the subframe, pre-tensioners activated etc

  PH1 iceburg
Angel eyes and gash exhaust dont sound great, will prob need all the belts doing too. £3.5k

  audi a6 3.0tdi
sounds a bit chavved up but if its had belts done then i'd say around the 3k mark. Its not too difficult to get it back to standard

5 years or 72k mate, belts were due done in 2007

As said, Renault will take upto £800 off you for the job, a reputible specialist will take about 4-550 and about two days

ill do it my self but knock the 800 off the car think ill offer 2.5k

thanks john

Its a floating cam design on the 172/182's, total nightmare in the amount of space, no tip-ex's trick either, for £450-£500, specialist all day long for me & i do 99% of the tasks on both my 172's but i'll happily avoided that little job

  evo 5
im not worrid ill do it my self seeing as i dont trust any 1 to do any work on my evo

cant be any harder than building a 600bhp evo 6

fair play, still, id budget as if you were taking it to a garage anyway as it, god forbid, could snap driving it away!

just had a reply to my msg i sent about the belts

heres what they said

as i said john it was a mecanics before me and it has only done 47,000 miles yeah its older than 5 years but should not need the belt because the low miles he said it will not need a belt untill 70,000 and the way things are going pepole are not buying cars and not evos piston heads is packed with evos pepole just dont have the money

Walk away if that's what a mechanic is saying about the belts then you have to wonder.
And as for the bit about evos not selling.... all sounds a bit pushy to me/

we've seen 5 year old belts on 40,000 miles snap under no load.

it's bullshit, dont risk it, quite a common failure on rs clios (if left unattended)

get the cambelt kit which includes pulleys too + aux belt, because it probably didn't have one at 36k either.

If they want your car that bad then they will drop the money...there are also plenty of other clios out there for sale. Personally i wouldnt touch it due to the mods and her cr@ppy attitude. Also fogs on looks as cheap as the mods.

As has been said, it's not only a mileage issue with the belts. Common comparison is to a rubber band... you could not touch it for a year, but it would still snap if it had perished in that time.

Walk away if they're playing games, they're offering a p/ex for your car and then telling you that there's loads on PH!?! I'd tell them to go for another one, then.
