Negative battery terminal

You need to remove the battery terminals again. There are some alarms that require you to put them on in a certain order neg 1st or 2nd .I cant remember which way around...................When you put the terminal on it has to be a direct fit 1st time...............Ive had this before on a number of cars and this is what I found was the problem.

Normally when i open the car dorr the alarm bips and i have 10 seconds to put the jack in. The i put a secong jack in to remove the imobiliser and then start the car. At first when i took off the negative lead of the battery, the alarm went off when i opened the door. I took the lead off and refitted it, now the alarm is normal, except it goes off when i turn the car ignition on (even though the engine starts, the alrm goes off and sounds as im driving around). Its a fox guard alarm, with one jack (a key like jack) under the dash, and a second (card like jack) next to the steering wheel. I recently took the dash off to do my speedometer cable, so i could have knowck a wire or something. However, the sensors arnt on the dash but on the pillars near the roof of the car. Anyone any ideas? It doesnt help that the alarm is very convoluted to turn off and on.

I thought you always had to remove negative first then posotive and refit them in the reverse order, posotive first then negative?

Well tell me its ok to put the positive lead on last and ill try it, dont want to break it any more than it is. Also i cant try it till tomorrow as the neighbours are back now and they will just complain if the car alarm goes off, so ill try tomorrow morning. But thanks, i am listening and i have taken on board what you said.

Have you not got a manual over-ride switch under you splash guard on the NS front mate near where your windscreen washer bottle is?

sounds like youve triggered the battery back up function on the alarm siren(alarm automatically goes off if its battery feed is cut because it thinks somebody is cutting of the power in a attempt to disable it).check that you have reconnected all the leads on the battery, check all fuses are ok and arm/disarm the alarm a few times.
