Never having an engine cover again!

Over the past few days when driving I have noticed a vibration coming from my engine when under about 3000 RPM, but havent really noticed it that much as I usually have the radio on.

Anyway today I was driving with the radio off as I was just going up the road and noticed that this vibrating was still there and my car didnt sound quite right.

I got back home and revved it slightly, and when standing outside the car I could hear a whirring sound.

So I put my bonnet up only to find that my engine cover had disappeared and was getting quite cosy with my fanbelt and was rubbing on the metal (pulley/cog)

I now have a somewhat shortened/smooth engine cover which I refuse to put back on.

Good job I spotted it now before I go on the motoway in an hour, as one small pothole could have sent it into my fanbelt and consequently broked something

i would put that more down to user error than the engine cover...lol

how can you blame the cover when it wasn't bolted down?

1.2... has no bolts.

Just clips on

The oil filler flap on my engine cover came off and melted on the exhaust manifold, smelt lovely.

tbf on the 172 the screws rattle out well mine have friend also had the same problem lol had to order new ones

+1. i have had to replace a fair few of mine as well as the oil cap cover which vanished into thin air.

Yeah theyre lose as f**k on the 1.2s, Just thinking about it i might take it off...

My ECU covers been nicked either by the mechanic who last worked on my car or has falled off, Which i doubt it as i tightend it a while ago.

Found mine on my 1.6 had come off and was touching something that left a extremely strange mark down one side
