New 172 Cup for me...

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
the time for a new car has come, im chaging my 1.4S for a 172 cup, which is prenetsly on its way, from sumwhere, i dunno where. I'm 19 and have been driving for a year or so now, now i'm by no means a lunatic, i do more miles that ud think possible and i am sensible. However, as much as i want this car, im gonna feel intimidated by it a bit when i first get it, its a real powerful car and i think itll take gettin used to. I'm also gonna be skint like a beast to pay for it, lol. Has anyone else had a similar experience to this when changing cars? I'm sure after a few days ill be fine but im gonna be so nervous at first.

take it steady!!!

don't go racing people, as thats when you take the risks. Save it for the trackdays.

yes fella i changed my car from a 1.2 clio to a 172 in april, it is a big step up in power, and just take it easy till your used to the car, but by no mens drive silly when your used to it. (you say your a sensible driver so i doubt you will)
just watch the torque steer in lower gears!!!

and most of all enjoy it!! ;)

I did 1.2 -> 182 cup at the end of last year. I had to take it home via the bypass, I was in total disbelief. Now I'm kind of used to it....almost wish it was faster lol.

I think its kind of good when you make a big jump like that, i think it makes you respect the power a little bit more as its such a big step

I myself went from a 1.4 106 XSI to a 260bhp Evo lol

As mentioned, get use to it first, then you'll be confident pushing it harder, especially when the warmer weather arrives :)

  Clio 172 Cup
When I first drove my cup I immediately thought "wow", but I totally under estimated its power! Took a while to get used to but I absolutely love my car!

  Turbo'd MX-5 MK4
i went from a 1.2 clio to my 172, its as simple as this, if your sensible you won't crash it, if your not you will. Simple as.

I did 1.2 to 172 Cup, stunning! Torque steer caught me out at first but I'm used to it now, just take it steady for a while and you soon get used to the power. I went back to a 1.2 for a while when I was waiting to collect it, I honestly thought I'd left the handbrake on at first!

Has cost me too much though and I'm getting a 1.8 Valver soon, actual costs aren't much more than a Dynamique but I never budgeted for all the extra miles I would do just for fun, as I'm saving for a house I've decided to get a cheaper car and pocket the difference. Don't regret it for a second though, best driving year of my life.

  RenaultSport clio 182
Went from a 1.2 8v to a 1.2 16v now i drive a 182, the power is f*ckin amazin!! Just be careful-but in the summer-on the back roads the 182 is just amazing as will you cup be!!!

ENJOY!!!
