New 182 owner, will be digging for info!

Hi all,
Have just acquired a 182, for track day purposes. It seems pretty well sorted for track, having:
A Scorpion RS192 decat system
Cobra seats on fully adjustable runners
5 point harnesses
Smaller OMP steering wheel
eibach rear suspension (to be investigated further)
Fully stripped out
Front and rear strut braces
Got some new yellowstuff pads and Nankang NS2R track rubber.
I'm curious as to remap options, as despite having this type of exhaust - I don't believe this to have been fettled with. Are there really much gains to be had with this NA engine?
And also curious as to roll cage options, and to what gains these would have over the strut braces it has fitted at the cost of extra weight?
First track day likely to be at Castle Combe in September if not squeezing in somewhere this month!

I believe you have to be a paid-up member to post pictures properly - though I could be wrong on that. Otherwise, simply upload the photos to a something well known as Flickr, PhotoBucket, etc and copy and paste the link from their into the window that appears when you click on Image, at the top of the message window.

There is a lot of track experience on here with the 182s. The majority tend to assist the breathing and exhaust processes of the engine - along with remaps, rather than boldly pursuing gains from other NA work. It's perfectly doable - but the law of diminishing returns for the money you put in, tends to push people down the forced induction route.

Personally, I wouldn't change a thing with what you have got and just see how it goes. Brakes are normally a key change - do you know what discs are currently fitted? @George@RTR_Parts is the man to speak to about such things...

I don't know the discs that are on the car. I've recently sold up my far heavier Fiat Coupe 20v turbo track car, to go RWD and the Clio is something fun that came up, that I know I can use on track in the wet and have a lot of fun in it in the dry too.

Is there a preferred combination? I used to use Mtec discs (which would warp almost immediately - which I'd then get re-skimmed and they'd be fine for several track days), along with Carbotech XP-10 pads. This combo were around £325 and worked well. Obviously the Clio is far far lighter and seems to stop pretty well with the new yellowstuffs and whatever discs are on the car.

I didn't think there'd be much to gain in terms of pub talk bhp numbers, I will most likely get my car mapped just to give better response throughout the rev range and just as a general healthcheck, especially given it has modified breathing and exhaust.

Are there ever any track days organised through this forum? Would be good to sound off with people on a day like this too!

Welcome to the forum mate, most people tend to use brembo HC discs for track work, although some go for the more expensive HC maxi ones (with the grooves in). I have only used HC's although I have never managed to warp them, even in rallies. Track pad choices are usually Mintex 1155 for budget and Carbon Lorraine RC5+ or RC6 depending on temp. I use RC5+ without issues. I have also seen people using Ferodo DS2500, DS3000, DS1.11's, and Pagid blues to good effect. A lot of track folk use air ducts from the fog lights to cool the brakes, and some put the Brembo 4 pots from the newer clios and meganes. This also also you to use 300mm discs.
