New 182 owner...

  Clio 182
Hi guys, new to the forum, i've just got myself a 182 in artic blue, 2005, full fat, 55000 miles... love it, looked at every hot hatch going and glad i chose the clio, couple of little points i could do with a hand with,

the engine management light (bottom right of the dash, not the one which says sop in it) has come on since i've had the car, going to get it diagnosed this week, anyone on the Wirral or Liverpool area who happens to have a diagnostic tool which they would let me use i would be forever grateful, if not, does it have to be a Renault specific tool?

also, the car has done 55k but is 6 years old, should i be getting the cam belt done? again anyone know of anyone on here i can ask as to where local is best to take it,

thanks in advance for any help received,

Craig

Cambelt is over-due. Birchdown are probably your best bet. They're in the NW.

I'm sure Birchdown will be able to diagnose the cause of the light too. BTW, it's Arctic. Not artic.

But welcome :D

The light on the dash in the emissions light check for blowing exhaust, look to see if a decat is fitted, if its not those it will either be lambda sensor (there are 2) or the cataltic converter.
get it the car diagnosed.

yeah the cambelt and aux belt will need changing after 5 years. Do a search on here for more info on cambelt service

^ as long as he knows the f4r engine well, I would advise against him doing it as there lots of horror story's of cambelt changes that go very wrong! Welcome and enjoy!!

may buy the belts and have them done by a neighbour, hes a mechanic, says it wont be a problem, what you think?

any input/help would be appreciated

cheers

You need specific locking tools when replacing the belts on the 1*2's. Thats why people on here only recommend getting it done at a Renault specialist.
