Nothing as standard so you would be looking at a rep. Shouldn't cost the earth to buy or build but insurance will probably cripple you.

As above you could make a replica quite cheaply, plenty of parts for sale on here and eBay! Insurance for the mods wouldn't be too nice but you're young so I say go for it!!

Better off buying something cheap and saving for a few years and then get a 1*2 if its what you really want!

thanks for the comments guys !, wold like to see how building a rep would turn out, as for the insurance situation if it was possible to do i would pay the extra for the mods :), would i be looking at buying a complete pack or would i have to buy the parts separately, as some of you own 182/172 a i right with what i listed above parts wise ?? or is there more than that

thanks liam

If you pay the membership there is a great market place where plenty of people are breaking cars for parts and the bumpers, side skirts, wings and alloys etc are regularly available.. It's only £12 and well worth it.

Welcome mate :)

To build a proper replica will cost you a lot of money, as there are quite a few differences, but you could mimic the outside look by buying 172 front and rear bumpers, 172 front grille and boost spoiler and a set of 172 alloys with some spacers (as the 172 has a wider track so the wheels will be too far in the arches)

As Russ says, it's not too hard to do, but really there is no rep like the real thing ;)

Wait a few years with a boring car, it pays off!

Im satisfying my desires by making a replica myself, It's doing the trick and I really enjoying learning about the car this way. It also is alot cheaper than actually getting a 172, though it's crippling everyday the way I can't put power down in my 1.2.

hi guys thanks for the comments, i will purchase the membership when i have bough myself the car, i would quit elike to buil one and then learn about the car as someone stated above, thanks for the help !

thanks liam

i have only been driving on a full licence for 3 month only and i have a 172 02plate,. i was driving for a year with full insurance on a provisional licence letting me get my 1 yr ncd

driving somethign slow will kill you for the 1st 12 months but it is definatly worth the wait.

How old are you. You must have deep pockets for insurance. £5.6k is the biggest premium I have seen on here for a young driver. I was in shock that they paid that. Think they were 18.

i am 22 i was a late learner so my insurnace wasnt to bad but in my 1st year i had a quote on a prov for a 172 of 9k a year later and with a full licence with a yrs ncd i am paying 1500 defo worth the wait

saying that my 1st car was a "1L" lupo and after declaring mods on that my prem renewal for the year was 1600 so it was a no brainer

That's pritty good going. I was driving for 6 years in 1.2 Clio before I got a 172 when I was 24. Glad I waited cause I have saved a shed load of money as I was doing a lot more driving back then than I do now.

On the other hand why not get what you want it's only money, you only live once.

Some young drivers are much happier pissing money on a 2.0 than up a wall so why not, they both have similar costs.

yeah mate that was my approach on the matter i used to go out on a weekend and spend up to 100 pound a time and did that twice a month. now i dont drink i havent done properly for nearly a 18 months nowand all money i have saved i put in a car fund and i have the 172 and a years insurance as a result of that :) pretty good going if i say so myself.
